Democratic Republic of the Congo
5000 francs for a Toyota Land Cruiser.
By 8 July 2017 they changed the price into 7500 francs.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We had to pay 20500 Congolese francs for our Mitsubishi campervan, so the prices got up a bit. We gave 10 dollars and got 4500 congo franc back. Note that you will get a receipt and have to give it back after the bridge :)
Report Check-InWe were not able to find money since the border, no ATM. So a guy came with us and drove us to a bank with a lot of fees (10 000 FC). We had to pay 17 500 FC for a T4.
Report Check-In5500 local currency. As we did not have this in the end they accepted Kwanza.
Report Check-InThere is a price list with all categories. Pickup and my Van fit in Category D wich is 17'500. My receipt also stated Pickup/Camionette on it.
I paid with 10$ and got 2500cdf back.
Report Check-InReceipt is 10.500fc (or 6$) for a 4x4. Official prices list.Keep the second part of the receipt because you had to give at the other gate at the end of the bridge. Beautiful new bridge and nice river view.
Report Check-InWe paid 17500 congolese francs (around 8,5 euro) for our Toyota Hilux Camper. It seems is the right price. Beatiful view of the bridge on parkingplace on the left side. Crossing Congo river is a milestone in any african journey!
Report Check-InBig fight!! They classified us (Unimog) as category F but could not provide definitions so we blocked the way until their supervisor came and confirmed we were category E (also called B30 for bus up to 30 passengers). So we paid $21 in stead of $42. Still a lot. Change mostly in USD and some Franc. Took more than half an hour to resolve but satisfying.
Report Check-InFor bicycle it is for free 🚴🏽♂️
They told us that is 1500fc for motorbike and 2500fc for 4x4 but we are not sure it is true...
Report Check-Intried to pay with kwanza but wouldn't let me. ended up paying $6usd. they have me back my change in usd as well. make sure you get the receipt because the booth on the other side will ask for it
Report Check-InI was already on the Matadi side of the bridge but wanted to cross to see the view. I was worried that I would need to pay twice, but I stopped on the Boma side at a memorial/picnic area just before the toll gate on that side. The views from there were great and then I crossed back to Matadi without paying a 2nd time.
Report Check-InWe came here without any CFranc or USD, because we took a very small border post through the mountains and didn't had the possibility to change money before. They didn't want to take our CFA from Congo. In the end they took € and gave us the change in CFranc.
Price for Toyota Landcruiser is 7.500 CFranc
12.000 francs for a Land Rover pick-up with cellule. Only because of the pick-up.
Report Check-InIn 2 weeks they raised the price: CF 7500,- for a Nissan X Trail.
It was stated on the sign in front of the bridge and the official receipts.
Report Check-InPaying with USD is also possible. They give you the Change in CFranc at the official XE Rate. By the Way: Walking across the Bridge costs another 5.000 CFrancs per Person as it's considered a Tourist Attraction...
Report Check-In1000 for motorcycle.
The approach is just stunning. I'd say matadi has one of the most dramatic settings of any city I've seen. anywhere!
