Latest Check-Ins

Nice quiet location, easy access via a paved road pulling a camper.

Plenty of flat ground on the north side of the reservoir with a beautiful sunset. Westcliffe is close by and has restaurants and gas stations.

The Good: Some very nice rustic sites on the east end of the lake. Most tucked in among the trees with big beautiful boulders. Easy to get to and fairly level sites for the most part. The views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range were EPIC. We listened to the Elk bugle as we were there during rut. The towns off Silver cliff and Westcliffe were absolutely darling! Great little grocery store. Cute coffee shop on the corner.
Definitely stop for breakfast at the Mountain Inn in Silver Cliff. The green chili burrito is FIRE!

The Bad: Trash Trash Trash. Everywhere. I will never understand people that do this. From beer cans to nasty diapers…. Just laying everywhere. Then in the morning as I was taking photos of the mountain range, a neighboring camper walked over to an empty site and proceeded to poop out in the open in front everyone and then walked back to his site. WTH?!?! The camp host site looked like they had been living there for a long time. Old run down camper. Tarps and trash. They ran their genny constantly. Never saw anyone making the rounds at all. It’s very evident they never do based on the conditions of the campground. We left extremely disappointed. What a shame because this could be a premier camp if someone just cared.

Its a shame that the bad out weighs the good. I’m not sure we will go back unless it’s a necessity. We had spent 16 days overlanding the back country of Colorado on that trip. This was by FAR the most trashed camp area we saw the entire trip. Very sad. I posted just a few photos of the trash, the GORGEOUS Mountain View from our camp, and the campsite itself. If you go, bring trash bags and gloves.

As described, nice views and great stars. There is a sign which says that use of the area requires a Colorado parks pass which we have but I couldn't see where to buy one if you don't have one and no one seems to be checking.
Great views of the East side of the Sangre De Cristo mountains.

Great little site. A couple other people were there. Awesome view of the stars. Two eagles seem to have homes there as well

Lots of campsites with fire pits on top of a hill and around a reservoir. May be a bit windy but we found good shelter between the trees. Supposedly there's some sort of an annual Colorado fishing and gaming license required to be here but nobody checked and no idea how to get that. There was lots of hunting going on though, plus a bear or big cat visited us at night. Surprisingly wild up here...
