Description

Beautiful state park on a lake, with hiking trails, 30 minutes from Dallas! There are a few hundred sites in three large loops. The sites are large enough with 30 and 50 amp electricity (but also standard two prong household connectors) with water. Some sites offer privacy, some are far from (old, not so clean but usable) bathrooms. The gate to the campground is automatically closed after 10pm (and reception closes at 7pm). Depending on your gear, they charge for electricity, no exceptions.

A little bit outdated, but really beautiful, regardless. I'm here in a van in late April and have several sites near me empty. However, they said that the weekends are full. There's lots of great space between sites. Reserve if you were looking at weekends are busy periods. Enjoy.

There is little to no maintenance of the aging infrastructure and the bathrooms are so dirty there may be new species of mold growing on the shower curtain. If you can overlook that, you will be rewarded with a $35 campsite and beautiful views of natural waterfront landscape. Quiet. Dump available.

We chose site 232, although there are better ones, but we didn't know those "reserved" signs lost their meaning. Fairly quiet (with no traffic after 10pm) for a campground so close to two cities. Paid USD 35 per night: 5 per person and 25 for the site with water and electricity. Dry camping (USD 20?) was not available for a roof top tent. We stayed three nights (total charge USD 105) and visited Dallas during the days.

Ce n’est pas le plus beau State Park mais c’est correct puisqu’il est très grand et bien entretenu. Beaucoup d’emplacement.

Report Check-In

Large State Park, large campground, now almost deserted. Affordable accommodation close to Dallas. Restrooms not extra clean but still ok to use.
