Chile
Jonathan and his family are passionate about the RMB area - they were one of the first families to settle here. They can arrange a boat tour to the islands (15,000pp) or kayak rental (5,000 per hour - 2 person kayak). They also have loads of pamphlets and books about the Aysen region which you can borrow, and they can book the ferry for you (cash only). The restaurant serves up local seafood - try the puyes (small fish - 'whitebait' in NZ) fried in butter and garlic. Supermercado next door - but we recommend you stock up before you arrive (average fruit / vege and no pan anywhere).

We had a really nice dinner here. They even had some vegetarian options with local ingredients. Definitely go here!
Report Check-InNice restaurant in town, open Monday to Saturday 12-21 hrs, Sunday 12-17 hrs. Very friendly. They have great coffee and homemade cakes. We were there a second time for dinner - excellent 😀
Report Check-InVery good and friendly restaurant. Best lunch in 6 weeks we have in Chile! Starter Cheviche de Robalo, main course Chupe Jaiba (crabsoup), desert semola con leche y miel de Nalca. Wow! All very good!!
Report Check-InAsked for information here and Vanessa (owner?) was very helpful and tried to help us finding a boat tour to the Islas Hermanitas. We ordered food to take out, eco friendly boxes and delicious fish.
Report Check-InWe met Jonathan when we first arrived in RMB, we took the boat tour with him out to the islands to see all the wildlife and we are so glad we went. Jonathon is very knowledgable about the area and various species and has fought to obtain protected status here and also worked with the Administration of Galápagos to help preserve this area. RMB is absolutely beautiful and well worth the detour with some incredible wild camping spots (also marked on IO) Boat tour was 18.000 for 2.5-3 hours where we saw sea lions, all the types of cormorant and otters. Dolphins daily at the camping spots. Highly recommend this tour with Jonathan.
Report Check-InWell worth doing a tour with Jonathan. He’s so knowledgeable and passionate about the area that it’s really interesting to talk to him. The boat tour was great, abundant wildlife, fantastic views and very detailed explanations. We paid 45,000 for 2 people and there was another couple sharing the ride with us. Generally its 72,000 for 2 people, 90,000 for 4 people and 100,000 for 6.
