Latest Check-Ins

the place is amazing even now that the lake is almost empty (it usually happens at the end of dry season) the road to arrive is not bad at all, you have to follow the arrows you'll see from the main street 7w. Different places for parking with different prices. I'm paying 5q night 5 day. for the site price is 25q entrance and camping, so with all I've pay 35q per day.
2 stores in the village but only snacks (not fruits or vegetables)
You can camp in different areas, but near by the lake it's a huge palapa that it's perfect.

Now wants Q40 to park for the night, plus , if there's anybody to pay, is Q20 for foreigners.

Beautiful hike down to the 'lake' (very small, but nice colours!) along the crystalline river. If you head right there's a path up to a mirador, and then a hike up to another one right up on the ridge, with views over the valley on the other side (and Claro signal - none for miles on the way ). If you go left around the lake you can follow a trail down the mountain which takes you to a big waterfall, and then on to a huuuuge waterfall that goes right down the mountain. Unfortunately there's nowhere I could find to get a really good view of it, you'd need a drone to see it properly! if you cross the river above the falls though you can at least see the valley way down below you, and the very base of the falls. Con cuidado!

(I can't agree that the road was in good condition, at least in October towards the end of the rainy season it was in places very potholed and rutted, and slow going - you want to start with a good quarter tank of fuel, to be safe. But very beautiful, lots of views out across the valleys and curious people herding livestock etc. Loved it!)
