Description

Large Lot across from Chevron and Ludlow Cafe. A big parking lot not so far from highway 40 but quiet enough to spend the night if you have to stop here. It's better to wake up early because of the trucks that are starting (+-7h. )No amenities but a coffee and a gas station nearby.

Not bad for a place to park and sleep. Truckers parked all around us but left us room to get our bus out in the morning. Lots of garbage. High fuel prices. Fun place to explore on foot in the daylight.

I believe I parked in the correct spot. It’s a large parking lot across the street from the chevron and ludlow cafe - loud because of the trucks but if you’re used to Walmarts and truck stops - it’ll do. 24 hour chevron with a bathroom right across the street. We stopped here due to flash flood warnings and high winds, found it accidentally and it’s a much welcomed safe place to sleep. There are also trash cans on the lot.

We started having engine problems on Highway 40, and pulled off at this exit. Yes there’s lots of truckers and other RVs. It’s been fine and we found a level spot. You can park in a couple different areas. it’s all packed dirt, fwy noise, generator noise, there is some trash scattered around, but it’s not too bad for what it is - free and convenient and nothing else nearby! There’s a gas station and a little café where we ate breakfast/lunch.

We have stayed there several times and park at the farthest SE corner of the parking area. The lot is not level but it is acceptable. There are lots of trucks most nights and others in RV's parking there also. You don't have to worry about getting stuck as it is a hard packed gravel lot. I believe it is safe also and we have parked there and with just the screen door closed to let the desert breeze help to cool down your rig if you don't have a generator and air conditioning. We live about 100 miles away and use it for a first night stop if we get a late start.

Just a couple bits of helpful advise.
1. If you are headed east on I-40 get gas in Barstow as it is cheaper.

2. Do not buy gas or diesel in Needles ((price on 9-5-2021 for gas $5.19)) unless you absolutely have to. If you can make it into Arizona there is cheaper gas and fuel at exit 9 gas today ((price on 9-5-2021 for gas $3.20)). That's only $2.00 cheaper per gallon.

3. Get the app GAS BUDDY on you phone and save money.
