Description

About 1 mile from the temple of the Sun and temple of the moon. Just outside the Capitol Reef national park. Very beautiful campspot - you can actually see the tip of the temple of the sun. Next to a small river (dry when we were there), fire pit and pretty leveled.

Great spot. Perfect for waking up at sunrise to see the temples in the morning. No cell service. Make sure you have enough water, gas, everything you need because chances are high nobody will come along in a long time.

A treasure as described previously. But, the road coming in is washboard, worst than anything I’ve seen in Baja! Even the cows have made their own roadside path, so they don’t have to walk on it. It took me 1 hour/15 minutes to drive from Hwy 24 to this site in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, attempting to preserve the vehicle with tires aired down to 20 psi on washboard.

As stated before, a very nice and quiet campsite just outside the park boundaries. There top of the Temple of the Sun is visible from the site and, since the sure is East of the formation, sunrise lights it up beautifully. The road in is heavily washboarded with some sandy spots.

awesome site. sits right outside nps land just around the corner from both of the temples as well as glass mountain. check weather before you depart as the road in traverses a few washes. nps recommends 4x4 and high clearance but my subaru forester made it no problem. about 45 min from the highway.

as close to the Temples as you can get. sits on BLM land right outside of the gate to Capitol Reef NP land. small hills hide the temples from you but the space is large flat and very remote. i wouldnt attempt the Cathedral/Hartnet road if it were storming or if it recently as the road takes you thru a few washes. 4x4 and high clearance recommended.

Camping in the Lower Cathedral Valley at the Temple ot the Sun and Temple of the Moon just outside Capitol Reef National Park. Absolutely quiet and remote.
