Latest Check-Ins

This place had purposely placed boulders blocking the entrance suggesting it is closed. We drove up the road opposite (w-861) and in the same spot as this pin there was a flat gravel pull out which is also beautiful and space for multiple campers. Still visible from the road but very little traffic.

Beautiful spot, nice and quiet. It is easy to find. Enjoyed the beautiful cold river. You can stay at both sides of the river. This road (as descriped) leads to the most beautiful view on the glacier and has the longest evening sun. The other side has a little bit more sand to go in the river, but also more current. No trash around, please keep it that way! One of our favourite spots. Really recommended to stay!

One of our favorites on the whole trip ...

There are 2 roads to Rio Azul - as noted in the title, you need to take W-859. This is the 2nd Rio Azul road if you are coming in the the south/west, or it’s the 1st Rio Azul road if you are coming from Futuleufu. The road number is marked on the road sign. A winding road of 15+ minutes or so and you will come to a large gravel/stone open area on the left. We camped right on the river on a fairly level spot next to a willow tree.

Nice little fire pit. Lotsa ugly dead wood for fire making (tho it’s not really good fire wood/doesn’t burn long). Great river noise, excellent view of surrounding peaks, and glorious night sky if you are fortunate.

We slept in our van, maybe two trucks passed in the night. A few mosquitos but not bothersome.

Beautyful, quiet and clean place. Lots of space. Seems as if there is a spot for rafting/kayaking on the other shore.
