We were stopped by the police here and 200 meter further the aduana as well. For both we showed driving license/passport and TIP and all was okay. Took 2 minutes for each.

They wanted only the TIP without Passport or other documents. Very friendly and only 30 sec. Good luck

Well well well, they stopped us of course. They fined us 150 bol for having a tank of gaz in our van. We are not allowed to carry one according to the law, even if the gaz was purchased in Brasil. He asked for the receipt, which we didn’t have..

there were police here in this saturday afternoon... And they checked all vehicles. we were not stopped ourselves because they stopped the two vehicles before us !!!
we were lucky for this Time !!!!

Pleasant enough. Did mumble a request for a collaboration after checking docs.

Seriously though, I hate corrupt police as much as the next person but don’t try and go around this. Just have your things ordered. Paperwork and carry your extinguisher, aid kit and triangle/cones. The first aid kit is especially worthless but it helps you pass these check points at ease.

Also, with Google translate the whole don’t speak English thing I think is almost worse these days. it just shows you might be a good target. I personally have excellent luck showing I speak Spanish well and respectfully answering questions and complying but not going further than that. That said luck plays a function in this. Suerte!

Don't try to go round. They caught up with me, found an empty bottle of rum and try to stitch me up with a faulty breath analyser. Talked my way out, but they are obviously corrupt

We came from Santa Cruz, on the way to the border … didn’t even had to stop for police control. Since we left sucre, few police checks, but never asked more than our drivers licence (we only have an European drivers licence, no international).

For us, no problem. They just waved at us to continue without stopping. We are not discrete: pick up with a camper on top but they just didn't care.

Probably corrupt cops; we were fined 100 BOB for not being able to show an international driving license, despite me explaining it had been stolen.

Fat corrupt m*********ing a****** cops charged us 100 bol for not having an international driving permit (it was in a bag I had stolen from me). Not interested in seeing the police report or in anything other than ripping us off. Avoid these c**** by taking the detour detailed below in the comments.

Going to Santa Cruz by car with chilean plates, no problem at all! Just checked our papers (passport, drivinglicense nat.+ internat.), wanted to see our internat. vaccination booklet (yellow fever) and stamped our tip on the back- done in 3 minutes!

How we avoided the check point like true ninjas:
Heading west to Santa Cruz pull over just before the bridge. Wait for a truck and 4-6 cars to pass then slip in quickly. This will be your cover. Take the very first left after you cross the bridge it's about 40m before the check point. You need to be slick and smooth and mainly NOT spotted!!! Take the first right which runs parallel to the main road. We decided to avoid the toll as well and took the last (6th) road on your right. Approaching the main road to do your final left hand turn manoeuvre be aware it's quite steep. Merge smoothly back on to the main road. High five! Crack a beer!

The toll is only 11 bolivianos from Santa Cruz until Brazil (one way)! 22 bolivianons you pay for a round trip (Santa Cruz - Puerto Suarez - Santa Cruz). Ask them for 'solo ida' if you don't pretend to return the same route.

Police just check papers, médecine box, and extinctors, after 6 minutes we were back on the road. Didn't ask for money.

Luckily very easy stop for us. Only showed TIP and drivers licence, get the stamp (for free!!) and free to go. Very friendly officer as well...

Hello
No problem with our motorhome.
Just ask the driving licence and the truck paper.
Some questions and it was ok.
May be we were lucky...!

Police Check point. Looked at TIP, passports, fire extinguisher, emergency triangle, first aide kit (looked at bandages and gauze...not sure what constitutes the requisite minimum).
12 minute stop, professional and polite police. Nobody asked for money.

Yes, you want to avoid this one! Long queue, coming from SCZ to San José. I paid the toll, took second right turn on mud track, then back just before thr bridge. Dont let the cop see you ;)

Coming from Santa Cruz first paid toll (22Bs to Brazil - 200m before police check), then detoured to the right to avoid police. They were checking a lot of cars, including contents, so I decided not to bother :)

Verrrrrry thorough and cheeky Police stop - trying their hardest to find something wrong in our papers and looking through our van. Friendly but also tried it on asking us for dollares.
