Description

This friendly place lies about 500 m NW and outside the "urban" area of Cabo de la Vela, right on the beach. It's spacious, very quiet at night and there is little traffic during the day, very much unlike all the other iOverlander sites located in the village. The spot can be windy but it's starkly beautiful.
Paula and Etto (yet another Colombian-German couple) provide flushing toilets (but you do the flushing with a bucket) that are cleaned daily, toilet paper and a rustic bucket shower for COP 10.000 pp pd. There is no WLAN (but the Claro signal is very strong), no electricity, no shade, no drinking water and no food. But they do run a surf/kite school and a bar and would like to have more overlanders.
They can organize rough-and-tumble 24-hour trips to Punta Gallinas (all land and sea transportation there and back included, but no food, drinks or accommodation/hammock for COP 120.000, which is not much compared to other agencies; inquire about exactly what attractions the tour visits and what exactly is included — the operator was trying to cut corners; take enough water for the journey — there's nothing to buy until you get to Punta Gallinas; wear sunscreen — the boats offer no protection from the elements). The scenery is well worth the trip!
They can also organize a guide if you'd rather drive to Punta Gallinas in your own truck, which can be impossible after heavy rain. It would be near impossible to get there by yourself plus you're left to deal with the Wayuu "checkpoints" yourself.

Great place to spend a few days! About 10 minutes walking along the beach to the “center” of the city, which makes the nights more peaceful and quiet here! We paid 15000 COP per person, and you can order meals at the lodging restaurant.
And a tip: we asked here for a guide to take us to Punta Galinas - so we could follow him - and the camping manager indicated us his brother Joselito. We negotiated for him to take us, and the night before, he said his motorcycle had broken and sent someone else in place. A very strange story, and in the end, the guide that went with us, left us 1 hour before the destination. So look for another guide!

Really nice place! Bucket shower (kinda perfect in these temperatures) and flushable toilets. Also a bar with cold drinks and fresh juices and a kitchen you can use. If you don't feel like cooking, you can order a pizza in advance and it will be brought to your rig on the agreed time! Very friendly people.

Great relaxing place to camp. Water is scarce so bring a lot. Very windy but nice place to chill. We paid 15000 per person per night.

camping: 15k pp/pn // desajuno: 10k pp

really nice guys and a great place to stay. windy and because of that no mosquitos&sanflies🤩 was also not too hot with the wind and spent some nice days there.
When you camp, you have bucket showers, no "normal" ones like to comment below, but are clean, toilets are clean, too and everything works as it should👍
breakfast is nice and in the morning are also some fisherman around, where you can buy fresh fish.
the other nearby beaches are worth a visit! beautiful!!

on the northern route we didn't have any roadblocks, but the southern way was about 20blocks, mostly from children who asked for crackers and water. take some stuff with you to give away for them.

Great place in Cabo, no WiFi or power or water for refilling but plenty of tranquility. The owner asked me to make a note that it's actually 15k per adult. When we arrived a staff member told us it was 20 for the van with 2 adults and 2kids. That honoured this price but asked to let people know it's 15. Also the fishermen there will sell fish and lobster. We bought lobster for 10k.

nice vibes, parking under the sun, loads of wind tho.
bucket shower, can use the kitchen but be aware is filthy, seems like has never been cleaned since the day has been opened we have seen a few cockroaches strolling around!
we didn't try the restaurant but it seem very slow and the food need to be blocked the day before!
overall is a nice place everybody was friendly and helpful
we paid 15k pppn

Closed space to park your van. 15000COP per person per night. Toilets and bucket shower. Always windy so not that hot at night

Great spot on the beach a little outside town to get away from the hordes of begging kids. Large sand parking area inside perimeter fence. Flush toilets, bucket showers, restaurant and bar

Kitesurfing lessons and rentals available

We slept one week here. Perfect place to explore Cabo de la vela. If you try to sleep outside a formal hostel/rancheria Wayúu people will kick you out. So respect their land and stay in a formal site. This one is cheap and beautiful.

Great place to camp & kite. We ended up staying 12 days. You can park your van in between the cabanas. Very cosy place to hang out, good food, friendly people, flush toilets and bucket showers (but clean and with running water from a tap). We paid 10k per person per night. Loved it! So much better (and quieter) than the other places in Cabo. You can also ask them for a tour (guide) to Punta Gallinas (with or without your own vehicle).

We wanted to stay two nights and stayed one week, taking kite surfing lessons/renting equipment. This place (Tawi school) has lots of wind, sand, sun, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, stars and something special somehow as it is that "tranquilo" :-) We loved the fresh fish everyday and the Arepas from Erika for breakfast. We add some pictures.

Now 'Tawi' - a small piece of paradise! Lovely place to camp, stayed two nights in our vehicle at 15,000 COP a night. Parked our van opposite the bar/reception area and we managed to see the sunrise from our bed every morning - was amazing. Right on the beach front as previously mentioned, toilets are still bucket flush, and bucket showers but had no issues with this. Breakfast was 8,000 COP with lunch and dinners ranging from 15,000 - 25,000 COP depending on what you would like. There is a kitchen if you want to cook or would like more space than what ever kitchen materials you carry with you. There were a lot of flies swarming in our van when we were cooking. There are a few dogs around but they didn't cause any issues, and only a few barks at night but nothing to keep you awake. Very tranquil place to come and relax, we didn't kite surf but enjoyed watching other people. Sugar Pylon isn't too far of a walk from here and has some nice views. Owner was really lovely, and so were the volunteers. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here - after the maze of a road to get to here. But worth it!

Very good place to learn kite or windsurf!
Jorge is really friendly
The school name is Tawi now!
Very Nice to park our van. Really safe and calm

now has a new name and new owner. still a nice place and prices as below. very helpful with punta gallinas plans don't try to sell you anything.
I also did a kite surfing Kurs for 120k per hour. Sabrina my teacher was very good and accurate about the hours. you get actual water time for your money and with the cheap accomodation it's not a bad deal. super nice stuff in general.

Stayed here the night. Hard to put up our Roof Top Tent on this wind so rented to hammocks for 15k each. Bucket Showers and bathroom included.

Report Check-In

Nice people but no shade and the sun is hot and the wind screams all day. Loud music from nearby till well after midnight. Bought fresh lobsters and fish right off the boat in the morning! Delicious.

Report Check-In

This place is mostly a kite & surf school. It welcomes overlanders and out of the rest options is the best one.The bar-hang out place right on the beach is an ace.The rest of the facilities are run down but still functional.

Report Check-In

Nice vibe here. No power as all is solar but there is WiFi. Paid 10,000COP pp. Helped us get a guide to go with us in our rig to Punta Gallinas. If you have your own hammock you get a shelter for same price; if you want one of theirs, it's 5000 more. No Tigo service but Movistar works.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for one night before going to Punta Gallinas, much better vibe than Rodrigo's. Very windy like everywhere else in this rea. Wifi available at the bar. Bucket toilets (clean) and showers. We bought langosta (lobster) for 10,000 each and prepared it in the communal kitchen. Very friendly and they can help you find a guide that will ride with you in your rig if you want to go to Punta Gallinas! Much better option than following the guides that drop off backpackers at the boat launch. They drive like maniacs and don't go all the way to Punta Gallinas!

Report Check-In

We spent three nights here. Friendly owners and people around. The kids of the family next door were fascinated by our every move and might have been a bit intrusive for western standards but without TV who's to hblame them for wanting to watch us das we go about our life. Super quiet at night - no techno or anything else

Report Check-In

The most expensive toilet we ever paid for, but our own mistake! We arrived late and hoped to find a quiet place. What we got here for 10000.-/p was a toilet, begging kids, generator noise, a rubbish littered beach, no shower (no water), disco music until 6a.m., no facilities like shade, bench, wifi, water. Save your money and camp 50m further north for free, not worth the money.
