Botswana
This is one of the places to stay in Francistown area. 8 km off main road. They have a bush camp area & a grass campsite. They also have cabins & river side rooms. Ablutions ok but has hot water. Wash-up area . Small shop with ready meals , cold drinks, beer & firewood/charcoal. Braais, water taps . Electric hook up extra charge .A very clean swimming pool. A great place to relax. Staff welcoming & helpful price 180PP for camping excluding electricity.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Excellent stop over. Stayed in the riverside chalets. Very comfortable, clean and has everything you need. Highly recommended.
Report Check-InWe stayed in the ensuite rooms with a kitchenette and nice verandah. Second time staying here so shows we like it. The frozen meals they offer is great and means you can just reheat in microwave.
Report Check-InFine for one night. Good hot showers. The pool was not really clean.
Report Check-InGreat campsite, very quiet. Campsite are very close to each other, but fine for us as we had great company. Electricity on site, clean ablutions with hot water. ZAR 300,- pppn.
Report Check-InChecked in, paid, left after an hour.
Tiny tiny camping spaces jammed next to each, I was basically an inconvenience to my neighbours who were over flowing into my site and I had to endure every word of their conversations as their braii was 3 metre from my tent. My whole site was 3 metres wide. Not flat, hard to put up a roof tent due to branches.
No useable mobile network on mascom or bots telecom. One bar 3G doesn’t work.
Wi-Fi network would disconnect every few minutes, 1meg rating on fast.com at best. Unusable to get any done.
Over priced, electricity 50 plus more.
For the price I expect some space and peace and quiet, not to endure other campers living on top of you.
Found a much better place in town for half the price.
They raised the price to 220 Pula/person/night. Very nice pool. Clean shared ablutions and basic camping facilities.
Report Check-InNice green grass with friendly staff. No bar or restaurant but there is some meat available at the reception.
Report Check-InThis was our 2nd stop here at this fantastic campsite after a month out in the Bush. To have a grassy pitch was heaven and the superb bathroom facilities of hot, hot water and spacious changing areas. Plus outside sinks for washing up or laundry with hot water. I also used the laundry service for our bedding and big clothing which was 6 pula per item. They have a freezer with some home cooked meals and bread to buy, a lovely swimming pool and the WiFi reaches the camp and works fine if there r not too many people on it. There is a beautiful decking area looking out at a waterhole plus a dam with a bird hide but you also just get many birds around the camp. Mike and his team are really friendly......we stayed 4 nights just getting organised, cleaning the truck and relaxing. 220 pula pppn.
Report Check-InStayed here to camp many times and owner Mike and his staff are always kind and helpful and run one of the best sites in this region. The only minor niggle is the dodgy wifi which is included in the price but is a not that strong around the campsite. There is also little if any cell phone coverage here from Mascom the biggest service provider in Botswana yet the towers are just down the road on the edge of town.
Report Check-InA very nice camp site. So good to be out of the dust even for 1 night, grassy sites, firepit, bbq, water tap, electric. Lovely shower block with hot, hot water. Washing up sinks with hot water. WiFi at the camp, excellent for Botswana. swimming pool and beautiful gardens. Peaceful and relaxing. 220 pula pppn
Report Check-InWe really had a bad experience in this campsite. We were 6 adults with one child and for the first time since we started our trip across southern Africa the little one was charged almost like an adult. No place for negociation, manager very unpleasant and no flexibility. She literally told us that she had a bad season and that she needed money to pay the salary of the staff and apparently it's on us. After our bad review on Google the owner accused us on trying the bribe their staff! We were just asking for a commercial gesture which never came. If we would not have been with friends we would just have left. We will never return or recommend this place.
Report Check-InNice camp, but ...
The price is identical for all adults or young children, 220 pula per person per night
The manager remains inflexible on the rates, even if we stay several days and we are many!!!
Positive surprise! Much more then an overnight stop, much birdlife, nice deck with view across the river onto a waterhole with many Kudu. Clean ablutions and hot showers. Overland trucks fit easily and the currogations were only for a few short stretches. WiFi on all sites but connections to it quite poor. Frozen fresh menus and meat available. All in all, South African quality site that deserves a 2nd night stay!
Report Check-InVery comfortable, green, grassy campsite with all the facilities you need, including a swimmingpool. Nicely kept lawns. Really a place to relax and stay an extra night, or just for a stopover. Price is a bit high, but for us it was worth it
Report Check-InJoli campsite très bien entretenu avec une belle piscine
210 p / pers.
Power ok
No bar no restaurant
Only meet and a little shop in the reception
No smile it’s really damage !!
L’accueil reste à désirer …
New prices now (all in BWP): camping 210pp adult, 165pp child, 10pp infant, 50 for trailer. Riverview cottage 920pn for two people. Decide for yourself if too expensive or not.
Report Check-InLovely campsites and chalets.
Some campsites have power - all have a portable braai.
Nice grass and lots of shade.
Note : power is at an extra charge.
Nice campsites with plenty of shade. Access road (from SSE) is fine now. Easy drive at 70km/h, no corrugations at all, but the occasional bump every km or so.
Report Check-InOK campsite, over priced. drive off main road is roughly 8kms and rutted, note to Jones, rutted roads can and does cause bad damage to vehicles and going faster does not lessen damage regardless of vehicle type.
I fail to see what "this is Africa" has to do with bad roads, I have travelled and lived off the beaten track, please don't use Africa as an excuse....Botswana is not a poor country by any means.
Facilities ok, strangely found shower heads really close to the wall making for a uncomfortable wash down, would even add it wastes alot of water.
1st camp spot I've ever had to pay for electric hook up which is typically European style, sadly nothing special and over priced
Regarding the entry prior to ours and the negative comment about the gravel access road to Woodlands from the main road. This is Africa, this is a gravel road and yes it as usual is to some extent corrugated because of what it is. But if driven at the usual gravel road speed of around 60 kms/hr the corrugations on this stretch will to a great extent be smoothed out. Make the mistake of driving it at 10-120 kms/hr and it will feel harsh and encourage negative comments as published here. If you and your vehicle cannot handle gravel roads don't come here!
Report Check-InAs always this was up there with the best. Great, peaceful spot tucked away in the bush from traffic and town sounds, everything immaculately maintained by Mike the likeable owner and his friendly staff. Lots of birds with a bird hide by the little dam to watch them from. Also a nice pool. Basic supplies from the reception/shop. Pula 190 pppn and worth every cent of it!
Report Check-Inbad rutted road to get to the place, not worth the 7km detour
as far as the place goes it gets a easy 6 out of 10
pros, nice and fairly quiet
cons, over priced, shower heads to close to wall, replacing a worn out toilet seat would be ideal
Always a good place to stop over. Didn’t camp as we needed some pampering after many night of wild camping. Al amenities are excellent and although quite expensive well worth it.
Report Check-InOpted for a Riverview Room for 2 adults, 5 year and 18 month old. BWP945 pn with using camping mattresses for children in room. Camping would have been nice however the ablutions is quite far from sites and the pool does not have a fense for wandering children who are unable to swim, but it depends on ones context and stage of life in whats convenient or a possible threat. One gets what one pays for in service, cleanliness and overall great experience. Peaceful and green environment. Drank water out of taps and feel fine so not sure about water being non-potable!? Would most definitely stay here again!
Report Check-InStill the best campsite in or around Francistown. New rate now P175 per person and extra for caravan or trailer.
Report Check-InFYI, place is now on the wrong location on the app. You need to drive 6 km on the tar road and then turn left on the gravel road, there is a sign.
Good to know before driving 7 km on a gravel road : price is now 190pula per adult per night. They don't do discount. Didn't stay, went to Maramba
Nicely maintained campsite 7km outside of Francistown. Large abblution block with good showers and toilets. At the men's showers they opted for semi see through curtains, while the women's showers have normal doors. Can buy wood at reception and they printed our document for the border without charge. Decent campsite for a stopover.
Report Check-InIts a bit out of the way while waiting for the covid test results but it is a very nice campsite for all campers, I prefer the bush camp and some space, others the landscaped and groomed campsite, it’s close to each other, wifi is good and the small shop stocks basics (meat, ready made meals, drinks etc). The walk paths and dam are nice with benches to sit and much variety of birdlife. I like the historical information on the old Hunters road. Great spot for a couple of days!
Report Check-InAs stated before. It got surprisingly crowded over night, while a big group arrived from SA. Well mantained pool. You can buy braai packs and firewood there.
Report Check-InThe owner of this camp helped solve a problem with our vehicle late at night ... Very nice guy...
Report Check-InIt is a nice campsite. But TOO expensive if you are traveling with kids and a trailer! They charge for everything.
Adult: 130 times 2
Kids: 110 times 2 (from 2 years)
Trailer: 35
Power: 35
= 550 pula in total
The one thing that are free is WiFi.
We asked nicely for a discount, because we wanted to stay long and even come back again. They offered 20 pula off...
Not worth the price if you are traveling with kids and a trailer.
Great place! Wonderful camp pitches loads of shade on grass, nice braai area, standpipe with water at each pitch. Great ablutions and nice swimming pool. Reception is well stocked with essentials. power an additional 35 pula. 130 pula pppn.
Report Check-InWe stay there 6 days waiting for our carnet. Great place great pool and very helpful and nice staff.
Very recommend and nice bird walk and river .
Didn’t stay! This was once a favorite of ours. Unfortunately the price has gone up to P115pppn, plus P35 for power. The WiFi is free. But it wasn’t working and cellular service with Orange very poor. We went on over to the Tati River Lodge. Not as quiet but good signal and P100pppn. They have WiFi at the reception which works best in the evening they tell us.
Report Check-InWe had the whole campsite to ourselves only distraction was the woodland kingfisher! River is almost empty. Great pool, clean and spacious ablution. WiFi Electricity extra charge P35 pn; campsite P105 pppn.
Report Check-InThe same as stated below, nice ablutions, WIFI, good pool. Payed 230 Pula for 2 and a camper.
Report Check-InOkay campsite. Very well maintained but it's still a bit pricey at 105 p pppn and 35 p per night for electricity. Ablutions are very clean but strangely ill equipped. No toilet seats and the shower curtains are semi transparant! There were signs posted at each shower to ask people to shower 'for no more than 3 minutes' due to hot water shortage. Apparently this is not a joke.
Very few pitches but each has braai and standpipe. Pitches are quite small and very close together.
Quiet during the day but can get very crowded at night, especially with overland trucks. No bar, restaurant or laundry service. Wifi at the campsite, which is great because it's quite fast.
Ditto all previous comments. Spotlessly maintained camp & ablutions. Price now 105 Pula for campsite. Very quiet when we were there. Wifi is poor - but free. No bar or restaurant but cold drinks etc sold from fridge at reception.
Report Check-InNice campsite in a lovely area, good and clean ablutions, wash up area etc. Free WiFi but connection not always good, also nice swimming pool. Cheap @ 85/95 Pula pppn (bushcamp/normal campsite).
Report Check-InThis is the place to stay in Francistown area. Well worth the 7 kn off main road on a very good gravel road . They have a bush camp area for larger vehicles & a grass area for smaller vehicles & tents. Also have cabins & very nice river side rooms. Ablusions spotless with lots of hot water. Wash up area . Small shop with ready meals , cold drinks, beer & fire wood / charcoal. Braais, water taps . Electric hook up extra charge .A very clean swimming pool. A great place to relax. Staff very welcoming & helpful .price 85P pp in bush camp area.
Report Check-InThis was one of our best sites in Botswana. Laidback and very green campground with pool and wifi. Great place to meet other overlanders.
