Description

The port where all the Pampa Tours from Rurre start with the boat. You can just go there and rent a boat for 150BOB per hour. Normally you find someone who offers you something. We did a 4 hour trip with Ibre. Started at 5:30 in the morning. He's a really nice guy. Just ask for him in town or call him 67271537 or 61126892. At the moment there are not many pink dolphins because of the low water level of the river. But it's a great experience though where you can see many animals and the dolphins :-) You can also park and spend the night there. No facilities but safe because it's in front of the police. Normally the entrance to the parc is 150BOB We didn't pay because nobody was at the office.

Latest Check-Ins

We came here and met the really nice Fernando and his wife. He also does private boat trips for 600bob for 5hrs (we were two people), starts at 7am, reaches the eco lodge goes a bit further and then back. We stopped for a coffee/tea/bread with jam at the lodge for 10bobs for everyone. There was nobody in the river while we were doing the tour so it was very relaxing.
It is wet season so we couldn’t spot all the animals (no jaguars nor tapirs) but we saw many many caimans, turtles, different birds, capibaras, all three types of monkeys, pink dolphins and some fish.
Fernando is really easygoing guy, he can tell you all about the animals you’ll see, sometimes he’ll sing too. Speaks Spanish, English, some German and Hebrew.
He’ll ask you to bring bananas for him and the small monkeys. They are super cute and curious and it looks like they are very used to people coming to them because they will come right away and climb the boat (or you!!!)
We also prepared sandwiches and gave two to Fernando, he was happy to have breakfast with us on the boat. It was a friendly atmosphere. If you don’t have money for the 4/5/7 days trips (like us), this is a good option to discover the pampas.
We paid 150bobs pp for the reserve entrance (got a ticket for foreigners, actually it’s his wife who sells the tickets for the reserve).
Here’s Fernando’s number: +59163280354
Just contact him a day prior or in the beginning of the day for an afternoon tour. Best time to spot animals is early morning and late afternoon.

We left the car here while we were on the boat, it’s safe, There is also a police/marine officer during the day.

Ibre was here at the port when we arrived and we were able to arrange a boat tour with him for the next morning. We camped here outside the Zona Militar, and it was super quiet overnight, no one else around other than the Military Officer patrolling at night, and fireflies along the river. At 7am we went with Ibre for 150Bs per hour, and he was also able to get us the local rate of 50Bs pp for the reserve entrance fee rather than the standard foreigner rate of 150Bs pp. We were first on the river which meant there was a lot of wildlife, and the other tour groups didn't start arriving until around 10am so we had the place to ourselves. Coordinates have been updated to the port parking area where we camped, and then left the car while on the boat, as original marker was in the middle of town..
