Description

Really nice place. It's an orquids ecological reserve where they have hundreds of diferent types, most of them miniatures. The entrance is 30 quetzales per person and includes a guided tour, a documentary about their work and a tea from a local cooperative. They Also have a couple of cabañas but We don't know the price. The owner is a Kombi lover very friendly who gave us some help about what was going on with a wierd noise on our westy. Totaly recomended.

Beautiful campground in the middle of an orchids forest. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Definitely one of the nicest campings we've been to in Central America.

Beautiful place, sadly we had to stay in the upper parking lot as an American couple rents their lower cabaña long term and therefore the owners wanna keep their yard vehicle free. A bit of a shame as we ended up paying 40 q/pp for a gravel parking lot. The lower camp site would have been awesome.

Enjoyable stop and really nice people! We did the orchid tour ( for 2 ) to support the place and camped in their upper parking lot in our promaster for Q190 total. I always wanna support conservation and these folks really seem to do a nice job and while I’m not a tour person I would highly recommend it!

Lovely spot and the tour was very informative. We didn’t even attempt to park in the lower lot with our Transit van. I’m sure we could have made it but there’s not much room at the bottom anyway. We would have had to back down as there’s no room to turn around at the bottom so we opted for the upper lot which was great. There’s access to a toilet close by and the beautiful green wall and fountain were nice to park beside.
Great and helpful staff. The price is a little high but it supports a good cause

Superb Forest dedicated to the preservation and display of orchids. Showers and toilets available. The lower parking lot is lovely but we couldn’t get our Promaster/Ducato van back up the hill on the loose gravel. We had to use our winch. We ended up spending the night in the narrow and small upper lot near the office.
The tour is excellent and the staff are friendly and accommodating. A great stop.

as described, beautifull place in the forest. nice and quiet. we made it to the lower place in our sprinter van. enjoyed it very much! 40 q each a night.

Report Check-In

We spent one night here. Our van 20 feet was too long for the lower pitch. We were able to stand at the top of the parking lot. There are restrooms, hot showers. 40 Q pp

Report Check-In

Good option to spend the night when in Cobán. Showers were working when we stayed and warm but only a drizzle came out, so don’t expect too much. Power outlet in bathroom was not working but there are 2 more next to the kitchen sink. Everything was clean. Driveway definitely manageable for normal vehicles and vans, also when wet. We didn’t do the tour as it was pouring all evening and the next morning.

The black dog living on the property was a bit too clingy, tried to jump in to our car all the time and wouldn’t let us cook or eat in peace.

beautiful campsite really. the showers did not work when we camped there but they were working on fixing that, they are electric showers. the cafe is an outdoor area in the rainforest, quite beautiful really! we worked there with our computers for a day, average wifi. we walked around the orchid forest but not many to see. didn't take the tour. the camp price was 40pp, with discount to 20pp if you take the orchid tour for 50pp (only in Spanish). the driveway to get to the campground is quite steep especially when wet, we struggle coming up in our 2wd sprinter van..

Really lovely well maintained spot. There was room for two overlander vans. Thought the price for camping was very reasonable at 40Q p/p considering the facilities. Clean showers and toilets, a ranchito/palapa with seating area, sink and a grill. Big field for the kids to play in (which I guess is also used to pitch your tent). We didn’t check out the cafe but our overlanding neighbours did, were happy with the wifi and hung out there the whole time. Neither of us did the tour due to pouring rain and too few orchids- it wasn’t the season.

As described, still same price. Very friendly neighbours in the house next door too. Fast WiFi in the ‘cafe’ which just sells coffee and hot chocolate for 10q. 3G claro in campsite. Owner helped us find parts for our kombi too!

Beautiful spot! The camping area was closed for an event but the nice lady who works at the preserve (Andy) let us camp in the parking lot after everyone cleared out. The orchid tour was informative! It was 50Q per person for the tour and an extra 40Q for the truck to camp. Highly recommend.

Really nice and well kept place in a beautiful natural setting. Very interesting guided tour (now also in English!) through a small forest with hundreds of different orchids. Still Q50 pp for the tour and Q20 pppn for camping (Q40 pp if you don’t book the tour).

Report Check-In

40Q/pp tent camping OR 20Q/pp with 50Q guided park tour. 416 tips of orchids in the park! Excellent bathrooms. Nice grassy area for tents. Steep gravel road down to campsite, but maybe big rigs can park next to the office? Excellent coffee (10Q).

Report Check-In

Lovely campsite. We paid 50Qpp for the orchid tour plus 20Qpp to camp (total 140Q for 2 people). Tour is very worthwhile IF your Spanish is good enough to understand the info. The guide told us lots of fascinating stuff and we really enjoyed it, BUT if you don't understand all this, it's just a walk pointing at some pretty flowers. Some of the flowers are so tiny you would not spot them without the guide explaining.
Nice coffee, tea and chocolate in the little cafe, but that is all they have there - no food or other drinks.

We tried to visit this place after leaving Coban and could not manage to get in :(
It had been raining a lot so potholes and a steep incline made it impossible for our little rig.
Mind you: we have a 2WD 2 ton 4 cyl motorhome so not great power in our engine! I am sure others will be OK just check it out before if you have a Toy motorhome or similar XD

A truly beautiful spot, we stayed for 1 night for 40q pp in our van. Great nature surrounding and it's super peaceful! We loved it here. The staff here are so lovely, the owner loves vans. Our car had some electrical problems causing it to not start and the owner called his electrical mechanic to come down to help us and got it fixed. Would definitely stay again! Great facilities too

Report Check-In

Lovely place with a nice garden, good facilities and cooking possibilities. Really friendly people. we paid 80 Q for two people and our van.

Report Check-In

The tour costs now 50q p/person, but it's still worth it, highly recommended! The owners would like to welcom more foreign overlanders. If you do the tour, you could camp for free in the wonderful orchid garden. Only mosquito protection is recommended ;)
