iOverlander cannot verify if wild camping is permitted at this location. It is your responsibility to verify local laws or obtain consent before staying the night.
There is a large patch of dirt/grass, some small portion of it is level. One local watching the sea from his car around 8pm, otherwise very quiet, EXCEPT for the neighboring dog which would NEVER shut up, not even at 3pm. It's okay for one night, but I wouldn't stay longer.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Amazingly beautiful view down the fiord, next to a burbling glacial stream. Easy and level with big rig, some soft grass for tents, easy walk into town. 4G on intel and Movistar.
Free and very clean public toilets on main street across from supermercado (byo toilet paper), they seem to be open all night. Laundry mat advertised at local campground.
A small sign indicates no camping, but 3 different rigs parked here no problem. We smiled and waved at neighbors, no one seemed to mind quiet, respectful and clean overnighters.
No barking dog this time (see below), but loud laughing people out by the water at 2 and 3am! Mostly tolerable unless you are a very light sleeper.
Awoke to sheep, a dolphin, birdsong, and very shy gentle dogs.
Report Check-InIt is a bay in connection to the ocean so beware of the tides. There are concrete slabs in the ground on the high side of the area, seems pretty solid to camp with a van although there are some signs of trash around.
Report Check-InThe police came up at 21:30 to tell us we are not allowed to camp here (small tent and a car). Had to unpitch and leave. We must have been reported by a neighbour. beware if you plan to stay here. Nice spot otherwise...
Report Check-InWe stayed here during two nights without any problem. it's the perfect spot in Puyuhuapi, calm and peaceful and just 5 minutes walking from the center. The police came to tell us to watch out for the tide but otherwise it's OK to stay here. very nice guys.
Report Check-InWe spend 2 nights there and it was perfect. Very quiet, very beautiful. Police came to remind us that fires are not allowed, to keep our trash with us and to watch for the tide (it didn’t go over the grassy area but you never know).
We saw 5-6 dolphins in the morning.
Report Check-InBon endroit pour camper au bord du fjord. Tres calme. Aucun service sauf reseau tel
Report Check-InWent with my bicycle a little bit to the left and found a sheltered spot on a nice piece of gras. Great spot! And saw some dolphins in the morning :p
A guy walked with his dog and just said friendly hello. :)
lovely spot to camp 5-10 minute walk from the town just off quiet lane by the water. another campervan came later in the evening but other than that quiet.
Report Check-InVery nice spot, there where 5 other friendly overlanders at the place and still space to park. We spent 1 night but is very nice to spend more.
Even though is not very flat, there are a lot of flat rocks on the river next to level your van.
Report Check-InNice spot with parking and grass area. Peaceful, beautiful colors at the sunset, and we even saw dolphins swimming in the fjord.
Be careful with the tide, the water go up very high in the grass area, we moved the van at 11PM to sleep on the parking.
Nice spot, a bit crowded but friendly people. Not much bushes or trees for privacy in case you have to pee outside but definetely worth to stay for a few nights. We even saw three dolphins and seals. Supermercado en restaurants near by.
Report Check-Inwe stayed there 2 nights, lovely place where you Can see sealions. nice view of the fjords. lot of friendly campervans
Report Check-InGreat spot but few flat places. A very nice view of the fjord, we even saw 3 dolphins. Possibility to have water from the river, no electricity. Ok for 4G with Entel and Claro.
Report Check-Ingood place to spend the night, next to the beach and a bit far from the town, very quiet
Report Check-InNice spot next to the lake, some dogs may come to come to keep you company and beg for food. The owner of the last house next to the beach saw us but didn’t say anything, just tended to his hens and pigs and went back to his house. I guess locals are used to overlanders spending the night here. Please don’t leave trash so they continue to be welcoming.
Report Check-InNoite tranquila, barulho do rio. O cachorro latiu as 4 da manhã mas logo voltou a dormir. Indico.
Report Check-InNice place. We stopped there for lunch, very beautiful day although very windy. No one seemed to mind us being there.
Report Check-InNice place to camp with beautiful views on the water and surrounding mountains. We saw a seal in the morning! Soms locals came fishing but they seemed used to people camping there. It was very quiet during the night.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot right next to the sea. We saw a seal, a kingfisher and a lot of other animals passing by.
Good place for a big rig. There were some tents as well, with loud music all night, but fortunately we have earplugs.
Nice spot near the lake, we spend there two night and we were alone. It was nice and quiet.
Report Check-InAfter two months, we are back at our first spot in Patagonia! Still a good place to stay, quiet and we saw no one. Good cell reception as the antennas are very close.
Report Check-InGood place to stay around here, close to the sea and river, nice view. You can have a swim. Very peaceful. There's some habitations near by, you are not hidden, but we had no problem. The neighbor was friendly and said hi when he passed by. No dog barking at night. We saw two female (a brown one and a black and white) in the evening, friendly too. Good for tent too, grass and level area a bit further on the left side when you arrive. Absolutely no traffic at night. We were all alone! Very close to the center (supermarket and restaurants).
Report Check-InI need soft ground to set my tent by pegs, but the ground here was quite hard with lots of rocks. I managed to find a grassy spot right next to some poop. We did see lots of toilet paper laying around in plain sight. Please, don’t be gross! Not the best place for tents, but good enough for one night.
Report Check-InNice place! we spend a evening and a night vere whit our Van. Is good for tent also! fire spot local come here as well spending time, You can swim if You want. no facilites, but the centre Is Just 4 Min walking. supermercado, turist point, resturant
Report Check-InStayed for one night in our car. Quiet night. The next morning we did the Sendero Los Canelo across the street which was really muddy but nice.
Report Check-InPretty flat level spot with a nice view over the sea and mountains. Not hidden but that was fine. The dog didn't bark at all and came to say hello few times. No facilities but a small river passing by.
Report Check-InNice spot, lot of space. Not really hidden from road nor houses around, but very quiet. We saw the cute and friendly dog in the evening, gave him some food, he didn’t make any noise. We only heard the sound of the waves :-)
Report Check-InAmazing spot if it wasn’t for the absolute **** of a dog that barked all night. It was utter hell because it ran up and down the beach barking at all of the tents and campers. Avoid.
Report Check-InGreat spot to stay for one night. Even on a friday night nobody around.
Report Check-InQuiet place, we found a levelled piece. Enough space for two or more Motorhomes.
Report Check-InGreat wee spot. One yappy dog that became our friend after a small piece of chorizo. Police drove past and saw us but obviously weren’t concerned. 2 other van campers pulled up later so plenty of room.
Report Check-InWe have enjoyed the quiet beautiful spot together with an occasional friendly stray dog. If only they would not always mark our tyres.. perfect place on walking distance of small town. No barking this time ja (chilean) ;-)
Report Check-InNice views over the fjord. Quiet night. Really good location. Movistar works ok.
Report Check-InReally Nice spot to spend 1 night, great view, very quiet. Free and open wifi in front of the tourist information. Motorhome and tent ok.
Report Check-InWe stayed here on a rainy night and saw two dolphins. Really good place with a nice view. Very quiet.
Report Check-InNice spot to go for a quick swim in the fjord as the water from the creek washes away the salt when you come out. Spent a mostly quiet night as a group of loud locals came by around 11pm but didn't stay long. There was 1 other overlanding truck. Data signal from Entel was not good, I had an 'edge' connection only.
Report Check-InRealy nice spot. Fresh water from the stream (we washed or self). See a lot of dolphins in the lake. Quiet at night. Recommend!
Report Check-InStayed one night — beautiful spot with dolphins swimming by throughout the day. Some loud and drunk locals cruised by at night, but aside from that very peaceful. Good cell reception from the very close towers and fresh water from the stream.
Report Check-InNear the antennas so 3G was very good. Nice view on the bay. Two other campers there but enough space for all.
Report Check-Inwe stayed here with our motorhome and had a good and quiet night. good view. NO FREE TENT CAMPING, NO BBQ FIRE ALLOWED !! Police controlled the areal. Ask at the tourist office where you can stay for free!
Report Check-InI tent camped here and got chased away in the morning by the police, saying there is nowhere to camp for free in Puyuhuapi.
