Nice campsite, quite. We were here in March 2024, we hiked the San Francisco Hot Springs trail but couldn’t find the hotsprings. Great views, road can be super sticky when it’s wet. Hike is steep but doable, about 3miles round trip.
Report Check-InFREE camping for 14 days. The vault toilet was clean. The hike to the river was beautiful. There are spots along the road to the turnaround. We stayed near the front and had easy access in and out. Quiet at night. Hikers during the day.
Report Check-InCamped here last night, further down road (4x4/clearance) at the south end a mile past toilet and trail head. Gorgeous.
Rain started in early morning and we just got back to trailhead before it got bad and we had to infill to crossings for our 4x4 sprinter (lucky timing).
Today we hiked the trail the hot springs. Found hot (warm) water sources on both sides of the river but the springs have unfortunately been washed away, buried under mud and debris.
Like the Gila, Jordan springs is no more and Low springs by trail head half hearted quick rebuild after August 20 washout.
Great hike and beautiful campsite regardless, valiant effort needed to repair and rebuild the springs.
Not sure there are enough locals for this task.
Facilities are clean and welcome
Report Check-InGreat dispersed camping next to the hot springs trail head. Pit toilet. 14 day limit. Fire rings in dirt sites.
Report Check-InVery quiet and clean place. Hike to the pools took just under an hour at an easy pace. Unfortunately at this time of year, the river is flowing strong and the pools are flooded - cold. No trouble getting in here with our 22 ft C Class. No cell service.
Report Check-InNice spots with burn rings. Pit toilet is a plus. Hiked several miles down the trail to the river and never found the hot springs that were mentioned. We were the only one camping for the night, nice and quiet. Easy to get to off main road.
Report Check-InGreat dispersed camp sites! We were the only ones there, very quiet and far from the main road.
Report Check-InDispersed Campsites with fire rings at the trailhead to San Francisco Hot Springs. The trail is 6,4 km long and heads south west down to the San Francisco River where several pools are built right at the river ranging from 95 to 102°F.
Report Check-InDesignated disperse camping area in the NF. Dirt road, half mile from paved road. 2wd ok. Toilet at trailhead for San Francisco hot spring. Nice wild hot springs, 3 1/2 miles hike; ask ranger at Glenwood since accessibility change with season. Not shade. Not phone reception. Beautiful and isolated.
