This place is not closed. We were given the option to spend the night here for 10,000 colones. There are bathrooms and wifi. Big rig friendly 4 m height max to enter. Bajos del toro is very safe to stay anywhere so we might try to find a free spot
Report Check-Inwe were able to stay in the carpark of the blue waterfalls 500m down the road which is owned by catarata del toro as well.. no facilities but free.. still 14 US for catarata del toro but you can pay an additional 11 US for the blue waterfalls to get 6 more waterfalls, high level of fitness required to do all 7 waterfalls as there's lots of stairs but worth it
Report Check-InNot worth it. We drove a few km further to Camping Paraiso Manantiales (8Q32+5P Grecia, Alajuela Province), as suggested below. 5k col, with a sheltered (empty) restaurant, pool and showers. Much better!
Report Check-InCamping for 10.000 colones not worth it. Go down to town Col de Toro to camp for free on the parking next to the soccer field. With potable water and toilet (was not locked when we were there). Close to this town is Paraiso Manantiales where you can camp for 1500colones pp with cold showers, WC, cold pool, restaurant and no road close by to make noises.
Waterfall is great but 14usd pp (8000colones) is too much. Costa Ricans pay 5000 colones pp only. This practice is discriminatory. Negotiate.
A common response is that the government requieres price differentiation between foreigners and Ticos. This is absolutely not true.
Surprising that a dutch owner replicates the discrimination put in place by national parks.
There is a second waterfall hike (Blue Gemelas falls or similar name) which he charges a similar price for and which you might be able to reach through a different guy's property for a more resaonable price.
Report Check-InAsked if we could camp they immediately said no. Also it is now $14USD per person! Wow.
Closes at 5.
It is Unfortunate that such a beautiful spot has to be so expensive to see.
