Stayed the night. Standard BLM campground with a great view of the mountains. Close to 395 but could not hear any road noise. $10 for the site and plenty to choose from tonight.

Report Check-In

Basic well maintained BLM campground. Close to US395. Plenty of sites. Now $10 per night. Had no problems picking out a nice spot when I arrived late on a weekday afternoon in May. A nice practical spot to pull off the highway for a night but not sure I’d wanna spend a week here except maybe to use as a base camp for local exploring. $10 tent and RV sites. Water and pit toilets. Soft sand at campsites and bear boxes. Nice views of the valley and mountains. Windy and open. No trees but low bushy scrub gives some privacy and separation of campsites. I can imagine the wind ripping down off the mountains when the weather is right, but it was pretty calm when I was there. You can also see and hear the highway so this is not a wilderness experience, but it is as I said, a basic practical BLM facility.

The campground was open on Sept 10/23. I camped there.

Report Check-In

The place is as described in previous comments. A very marge majority of the spots were empty when i arrived. Quick advice, check the wind speed previsions before deciding to park here if you have a small vehicle. The gusts of winds were very strong the night we stayed (30-40km/h) and that was enough to shake our van pretty much all night. Other than that it’s really a great spot with a fantastic view.

Report Check-In

Very nice campground with a view of the lake on one side and the mountains on the other. It’s pretty exposed and can get windy. Only costs $8 👍🏼
