TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO FALLEN TREES AND WASHED OUT ROADS

The road to this site via County Rd 12 (passing Paonia State Park and the Kebler Corner general store) leads to Forest Service Road 709 in the Gunnison National Forest and as of today June 19th it is CLOSED with no specified reopening date. There may be another way to this site but I am not familiar with the area. I would contact the Gunnison National Forest rangers before trying this site. The creek was rushing and it looked like it would have been a great site.

plenty of spots right along the river with shade - many big enough for karge groups and good size rigs. super beautiful but, the road can be a little rough in some places.
forester with road tires did just fine.

Wow wow wow. Right next to the river. So secluded. Beautiful. Creek was cold but not freezing. Rocks, packed dirt for the ground. So many pine trees! Some mosquitoes as well but that’s the price you pay for this epic destination.

Nice quiet spot just near the river. Fire place. The dirt road To reach the spot was narrow but in good condition.

Beautiful campsite. We camped at the first spot on the right. It was really clear with plenty of room for a group of maybe 4 vehicles. The creek was high when we went through, but nice for collecting and filtering water.

Report Check-In

Super beautiful area, and we were excited to reach this spot but a huge tree was down in the middle of the road as of June 1 2018 making getting there impossible.
