We stayed with German and Elena for 4 nights and loved it! They have a property in the mountains between Guarne and Santa Elena, and it is very quiet, beautiful, safe, and relaxing. They were very gracious hosts, they took us on a tour of the local area, they gave us recommendations for places to add to our road trip, they gave us directions to get to Medellin via public transit, and they drove us back from Medellin one night as well. We used a bathroom that they have on site, and they also had potable water that we filled our tanks with. Per the original post, they are also very good at helping you improve your Spanish! They also have a bunch of chickens and some very yummy fresh eggs :) We enjoyed staying here and would definitely recommend reaching out when travelling in the Medellin area.

Germán and Elena welcome overlanders to stay on their very tranquil property not far from Santa Elena, Guarne and the Parque Avi (and cable car to Medellin). They have two cabanas which they rent out, and plan to make a camping area on part of their land in the near future to accommodate travellers. In the meantime, they will open up the bathroom in one of the cabanas for your use. We stayed here for two weeks. Germàn is a wonderful tour guide and would be happy to drive you into Medellin or nearby Santa Elena/Guarne or even assist you on public transport. He will arrange tours for the communa 13 experience too. If you are looking to improve your Spanish he would be happy to teach you or just converse with you, in a slow and patient manner. Highly recommended. Word of warning: anything bigger than a truck camper might not make it down their drive way. Height is not an issue though.
