Costa Rica
Great quiet place! We originally went for the Playa Hermosa place already marked on ioverlander, but it was packed with people. Instead we went down about 150 meters on the highway and found this gem!
Ricardo has created a nice quiet spot for you to settle down and watch the most amazing sunsets. Although the spots are close to the road, you can't hear the traffic due to the waves crashing on the shore.
There is a toilet and a very crude open air shower to use for 500 colones.
Ricardo also has a small drink and snack cart offering chips, pipa fría, soda, water and beer.
He lives on the property, and didn't charge us to stay. Just that he asks for a tip before you leave.
We gave him 6000 colones for the night for the two of us in a RTT.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Checked it out to see if I liked it. I did not care about the beach, too rocky. Also, you have to cross a small stream, in rainy season it can be an issue if not 4x4. Spot is secluded though.
Report Check-Ingreat location. a few locations came for surf. very quiet at night. good beach to relax. Starlink and solar worked. also shade available if needed.
Report Check-InChill spot, free to stay, and great views for sundown and up; no sign of Ricardo but there is a small hut selling snacks and drinks. Close to the main road, but quiet through the night (and the waves will drown out most noise). The place is popular with locals during the day, but was mostly empty after nightfall. Loads of birdlife, we spotted vultures, hummingbirds, frigates and more. Fresh water river running into the beach is handy for a wash in the morning.
Report Check-InWhat a lovely place! Owner Ricardo is such a nice man, he is happy when his guests are. He gave us some homemade coconutcandy and in the evening he brought us a fresh coconut with some homemade shots. Showers and toilet are basic but functional. Sea is rough over here, but you can walk many km over the beach. Sunset is beautiful in this place! We really loved staying at Ricardo's little paradise.
