Free campsite with fire rings, bear lockers and pit toilets. Great for tent camping, no RV spots but with a small van/car you can stay there. We spent 3 days here and no problem at all. Great trails and bike routes close by.
Comment: This campground is USFS and is now open (seasonal). It's free but you must camp at one of 10 designated sites.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Tried to camp here tonight but like most spots in South Lake Tahoe it’s closed for the season, gate is locked. FYI, there’s not much to do outdoors in the area until May 10th when they open things up around the lake.
Report Check-InMagical free spot close to the Tahoe Basin! Just beautiful.
Will only fit camper vans, truck campers, and of course car/tent campers. Road is fairly narrow - the top of my Sprinter love tapped quite a few low hanging branches.
Sheriff drove through at 0845 in the morning.
This place is STILL closed, likely because there’s so much debris from the winter and it hasn’t been cleaned up yet. Hopefully someone will post when it’s finally open!
Report Check-InSaw that gate was closed from our van. Did not try to go outside to open it. Went elsewhere.
Report Check-InRegistration at sign, but no charge. Road noise is audible. 2 bars of T-Mobile near pit-toilet.
Report Check-InGreat wild camping site where you can park on the side of the road with a small rv. Very quiet with barely no noise from the highway. Close to the big meadow trailhead. Unfortunately, the toilets weren’t clean at all. Got 1 bar with AT&T.
Report Check-InWe really enjoyed Luther Pass. The actual campground was full (and as others said definitely had a few people who appear to be living there…) but in our van we were able to park on a pull off up the street. Pretty level, quiet, and beautiful! State officers drove by multiple times and didn’t say anything so I assume it was allowed, although I think if you’re using a tent you may need to be in the actual campground.
Report Check-InOpen, only 12 sites close together, all were full by 4pm on a Wednesday. Stayed down the road at Scott’s lake dispersed camping.
Report Check-Inbeautiful place near a creek and cliffs ..only 11 spots but can park in small lot has toilets and dumpster
Report Check-InThis is open and it is very spacious however there aren’t very many sites. It was mostly tent only sites and maybe 1 or 2 where a vehicle fit. There is a trailhead here as well. We didn’t stay because we are in a van and there were barely any sites, period and tent only sites.
Report Check-InCampground is open. It's more for tent camping. We stayed with our van in a pullout a bit away from the main area.
Report Check-Inthis is a free dispersed campground and it is open at this time. 11 sites first come first serve
Report Check-InFree campsite with fire rings, bear lockers and pit toilets. Great for tent camping no rv spots but with a small van/car you can stay there. We spend 3 days here and no problem at all. Great trails and bike routes close by.
