MODERATOR NOTE: Place removed because camping is illegal here. Signs posted and enforced
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Did not realize it was closed. Talked to border patrol agents who were parked there and they told me I could spend the night. The ranger that knocked at 6 said he didn’t care what Border Patrol said and to get out. No signs indicating you can’t stay here, but the general vibe of the San Diego area is hostile towards car camping.
Report Check-Inyou cannot sleep here. A ranger is here to close the gate at 6 p.m. we had to leave the place.
Report Check-InGot a knock at 6AM, guy from fish & wildlife said no overnight parking here. None of the signs indicate that parking overnight is prohibited.
Report Check-InThey are still closed. We came at 9:00pm on a Friday and there is a bit of traffic on the road too.
Report Check-InOk new restrooms are built but still closed. Parking lot has been regraded and port o potty is still there (and level now). Make sure you get the pass online to contribute. Not sure about overnight ;) but be careful and respectful. Great spot for the day and a hike. Dogs loved it. -peteloke
Report Check-InTrailhead currently closed for construction, can park on road outside trailhead but wouldn’t recommend
Report Check-InSpent the night here after going up further in the hills. Came in at 11pm and parked near the trail head. A single other van here. No one bothered us during the night. Did see border patrol checking us out early in the night but no hassles.
Lots of road noise and lights as cars go up the hills but parking lot is off the road and felt safe overall.
