Something not right?

Description

At the end of the dirt road, a wide beach offers much space to camp. In case of high tide or strong rain, situation should be checked! Easy to access with 2WD, as long you follow the path.
Very quiet. We strongly recommend.

Latest Check-Ins

This entire “town” has a weird vibe. Can’t park next to the villa, caretaker told us to park on the beach. We asked if it was safe or dangerous and he said relax it’s safe (in Spanish). Parked on the beach next to the hotel. Then a truck came by around 9pm on the beach honking at us and a nice enough guy who spoke good English told us that we couldn’t sleep anywhere here and had to go find somewhere to stay “in town” wherever that is. He said the cops would come with their lights later and move us along if we didn’t move now. Which is weird because the caretaker at the villa assured us that it was fine to sleep there. We ended up sleeping at the Pemex and it was loud and awful.

After reading all the comments on the sleeping spots on this area, I don’t know if the beach is actually a cartel drop off point like some say or if there’s some cartel presence here or if the locals just really don’t like visitors and have said this to a few past travelers to scare people away or they only want visitors who will pay to sleep in hotels. I think the security at the hotel called the guy in the truck to tell us to move. As we were driving down the dirt road to initially get here we got a weird vibe from locals. Definitely not friendly. Then we read that you have to go surfing with a local “surf guide” so you don’t get harassed in the surf and that was it for us. Felt very unwelcome. Initially Came here to surf but left early the next morning after all this. Been in Mexico for 4 weeks and never felt unwelcome in a place until here. We have a truck camper.

Multiple campers here. This is our second time to the area and we haven't had any problems. this area should be marked as open.

Report Check-In

Was told by a neighbor we weren’t allowed to camp there. Something about Cartels and activity and that it wasn’t safe at all. He did let us pull up along his house which was nice.

Report Check-In

It was a realy nice, clean and quiet place, but unfortunatelly it was very very windy.

Report Check-In

Really good beach space, quiet and others van lifer when we were there. Can easily get stuck in the sand if you don't stick to the path.
