Description

Beautiful campground with a waterfall and a gorgeous natural pool to swim in. Enough space for many tents in different areas (close to the waterfall, more in the jungle, in a little cabin they're building or in the terrace under a roof). Also enough space for campers and cars.
Owned by a humble family, very friendly all of them. The entrance to the waterfall + camping is 25 quetzal per person (around 3€!)

40Q pp in a van or rv.
Alex speaks English best to send a message or call beforehand +502 4096 9265
Felt very safe and not so hot as other places around because of the many rivers surrounding the place. Definitely a nice place to spend a night or two.

Alex’s spot is a lovely place to rest before or after the border crossing with Mexico which is on average a four hour affair. Really great to have such a nice and safe place so close!

I contacted Alex in advance to verify if he had space for us. Alex was very kind & easy going. Speaks English & Spanish. Contact Alex ahead of time at +502 4096 9265 WhatsApp.

This is a great location to camp the night before doing a border crossing at El Carmen/Talisman. It was only 30-35 minute drive to the border. Very convenient. Camping next to a road but the traffic quiets down after 11pm & starts up again early in morning.

Sharp left turn inside his gate. Most trailers could do it. However, verify there is enough space to turn around inside on his property. Local cars & motorcycles park under a tree during day to walk down & play in the river. As long as vehicles could move, you are ok. Some flat space for 2-3 vehicles to camp here. Some rigs may need to level out with Maxtrax or rocks. A little shade under one tree. Some trash on property.

Some locals were playing in the water down at the river & having a great time. Alex says he’s fixing up the place. It does have potential. Only amenities are a clean outhouse with bucket flush. Paid 40Q per person for 1 night.

He has a dog on very short chain. Not sure what’s going with that. I just hope she is fed & has water.

El lugar esta muy bien para quedarse una o dos noches después de cruzar la frontera. Hay una poza de agua natural ideal para refrescarse y hay baños. Alex es una persona muy amable y charlamos mucho con el. Sin duda lo recomendamos.

The place is very good to stay one or two nights after crossing the border. There is a natural water pool ideal for cooling off and there are bathrooms. Alex is a very kind person and we chatted with him a lot. We definitely recommend it.

Not much to add to the previous comments, Alex is a very friendly and welcoming guy. The place is amazing, the garden georgious and the river tub amazing. Great stop to chill before or after border crossing.

Even if you arrive late and there are no people there, don't hesitate to comme in to camp as long as the gate is open. Alex will probably soon arrive and you will find a very friendly owner who will do his best to make you comfortable. the place is perfect to recover from the exhausting border crossing.... The garden is beautyfull and the waterfall as well. we stayed here 2 nigths with childrens and loved our stay.

Amazing place in the jungle with a great host family.Alex is very helpfull . Very recommendable

Report Check-In

We stayed at Alex‘s place just one night before crossing the border to Mexico the next day. Such a lovely place with an amazing garden and river to swim in. Unfortunately after some strong rain we were not able to enjoy the river but there is a nice, small stone fountain where you can take a shower. Entrance is a little bit tricky but we fit easily with our sprinter van (short EU version - 17 feet / 5.3m).

A small beautifully tended garden with a dog tied to a short chain sitting in his own excrement. A sweet dog feared by the family which uses a stick. Not my kind of camping.

As described by others - great stop off point on way to/from either El Centro or Cd Hidalgo border crossings.
We were delayed crossing and I must say communication with Alex & Ivonne was super
Lovely family and Alex is a marvellous gardener- what a beautiful beautiful place.
It’s loud because there’s a hill on the road outside but because it’s safe we just popped in ear plugs.
Note We are 2.2 m wide, 3.66m tall and 7.5m long . We just got in and no more.
Alex knew it would be tight and so facilitated a Plan B that if we couldn’t get in we could stay with his neighbour - so if you’re bigger than us that might still be an option

Highly recommended to stay here. Alex is very friendly, speaks excellent English and will look after you. Enough room for 2-3,vans. The entrance is tight, best to send a message to Alex to let him know your coming so he can help guide you through the entrance. I had no problems with my 21ft promaster.

As described a wonderful place with nice owners, nice garden and natural pool. Please note: the entry is very small, not for really big rigs; maybe problems if you have a low clearance. But Alexander is very helpful to fit in.

This place is very conveniently located only 30 km from the Mexican border. So either before or after crossing border here is a good place to stay.
There is a flat grassy area for 3 vans. It is not suitable for big rigs or trailers ! We fit with our truck camper (6.5m) just fine.
There is a nice waterfall in a river with a natural Swimmingpool 50 m down a tropical garden.
Alexander and his wife are very nice and helpful. He speaks very good English. There is wifi and drinking water on place.

Wonderful place, can fully recommend it! We arrived pretty late in the evening as the border took it us quite a while, super nice owners were texting with us and assuring us that they would wait until we arrive. The area is super beautiful, they have a nice waterfall and a little river crossing that property. The prices have gone up to 40 per quetzals. Will definitely come here again

wonderful place right after the border own by a very lovely family. space in the garden for three vans or tents, no big rigs. entrance a bit tricky on a hill and a little narrow but totally doable. (we had a sprinter van). there is a beautiful waterful with a palapa one can swim in and refresh after or before the border. basic amanities but absolutely fine. alexander is very helpful and builds this place up. so he is very thankful for every tip he gets. absolutely recommend!

Fabulous place! There is a grassy flat parking area where you can park up your camper, or put up a tent under the shade of a tree. Then there’s a path leading about 50m through gorgeous tropical garden down to a waterfall with a large natural pool to swim in. On our first day the water was very murky as it had rained upstream but by the next day it was much clearer. There is a clean toilet with a bucket flush, a covered area with a table and benches and decent WiFi.
The best bit is the lovely family who own this place. Alexander speaks good English and is keen to chat, and is looking for ideas on how he can continue to improve the site for campers. 25Q per person.
