Description

If, like us, you entered the country with an e-visa, it means you don’t have an actual visa in your passport, just the stamp.

We were told at the border Senegal / Guinea that you needed to go to Conakry within 5 days to get your fingerprints and photos taken, in order to turn the e-visa into an actual visa in the passport. We heard that many travelers didn’t do that and had no problem going to Ivory Coast.

But we were in Conakry and decided to take the time to do it. So we went to the airport (explained to the few policemen at the doors - they understood why), and found the guy who could take our fingerprints and photos, then print and put the visa in our passports. It’s fast and free of course. It was as if we had arrived by plane!

About the 5 days, don’t worry. We were there 10 days later and they didn’t say anything so take your time in Fouta Djallon. However, we still don’t know if it’s mandatory or not. Some said yes, some said no. It might change anyway, and all the borders don’t always have the same information. If you go to Conakry for your Ivory Coast visa, take the time to do it, it’s easy :) and check the comments on the Ivory Coast border, to see if someday, someone didn’t do it and had a problem leaving the country.

Same as everyone else. I entered Guinea with an e-visa and was told at the border that I had to go to Conakry to get a printed visa on my passport, otherwise I'd have trouble leaving the country. Since I had to go to the capital anyway, I decided to do it just in case because I knew I'd regret not doing it if I encountered issues later on. Although as others said, I don't know if it's truly mandatory or not.

Anyway, I got a bike to drop me off at the airport, got in, asked around, and all the staff members showed me the way. A lady got my picture and fingerprints, another put the visa inside my passport. All of it for free, of course.
Now I can focus on getting a visa for Ivory Coast ^^.

Don't know if it's truly necessary to get the sticker in my passport, but I knew I'd be kicking myself if I was here, didn't do it, and had problems later on. Arrived at 11am on a Monday. The airport officials knew well what I wanted and directed me to the counter, although no one was there. They initially said someone would be back in 3-4 hours, but after an hour someone showed. She gave me a 3-month, multiple entry visa starting from today and took my stamped visa copy from the border. Not sure if I'll need that again but I'll update here if I have any problems at the border with Sierra Leone and then after with Cote d'ivoire (now that I have a multiple entry visa :D). Lots of ATMs all over, though no postcards to be found :(. The official actually doing the visa was professional, though a bit gruff, but the security guys who directed me to the desk tried to shake me down for "coffee money" afterwards, which I just walked away from. A moto-taxi here from the Cote d'ivoire embassy cost me 20k.

Ask security guard in the airport to guide you to immigration.
We asked for an extension of our visa and got 3 months from today on, despite already being in the country for more than 2 weeks! Multiple or double entry was not possible.
Very nice officer, no fees.
You must come in person, because they take your fingerprints.

Same here. Very easy and fast. 10 minutes total and 10.000 GNF for the parking. Conflicting info regarding whether or not this is mandatory (the visa in the passport after having entered with a printed visa) but I wanted to on the safe side so I did it.

as I understood you need to have the visa in your passport if you stay longer then 5 days in Guinee.

other people were there for the visa as well so they are used to it.

Prefer this option over the ministère as it is not as far in Conakry.
