Great spot for multiple vehicles right off the maintained dirt road Long Canyon. Decently clean and beautiful view of mountains and stars! Plus lots of roads for off roading nearby. You can also visit Palm Springs or Joshua Tree NP very easily.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The authorities have come through and plowed the dirt to both sides of the road, so unless somebody has run over it a few times there’s no way to get to the campsites. The few at the beginning of the road were too high for my 32’ motorhome but could have made it had I’ve been in the travel trailer, which is high clearance. The one area on the left, about halfway down the road - has a sign that says closed. The upper parking lot was full with RVs when I got here so I parked in the lower parking lot taking up as little space as possible. The road just passed the upper parking lot has a large metal gate blocking the road. There are two truck campers on the left-hand side of that that I could’ve never made in my motorhome or TT. Excellent cell service. Very unlevel. The road is a mixed up sand and gravel and excellent in most places. No signs that say no camping. OnX app says this is BLM land. Much of the trash has been picked up, except for lots of shells and targets.
Report Check-InStayed two nights. 7/10 -+ beautiful canyon views and views of the city at night. The occasional gunshots and the glass lowered our score. Very quiet at night. During the day, a few fast driving pickup trucks fly up the main road, but otherwise there's a couple occasional bikers. We were grateful for the solitude.
Report Check-InWe came, we saw, we left. Ammo shells, shattered glass and tons of garbage everywhere.
Report Check-Inwoke up at 6 am to some a-hole parking in my campsite. Will not be returning.
Report Check-Inthere are a few pull outs off the road to the trailhead, we found a sweet spot, saw no other cars, very comfy for van & tent camping.
Report Check-InPretty and quiet spot. Lots of trash of shooting unfortunately. It's half a mile further then the coordinates say.
