Camping was closed but will open again when it’s warmer (not sure when exactly). We slept across the street at the mirador, but it was cold. It was quiet, because the border closes at 8. The trails starting here were open, but we didn’t make it to the quinquilil mirador (because of a big, deep cold river crossing, and we didn’t feel like taking our pants off) or the lake (because of snow higher up and we were too slow). The landscape was beautiful though! There has been a lot of rain/snow this year, so the river is probably passable later in the season.
Report Check-InGreat campsite with really hot showers. Our hosts for the night, Jenny and Andres, were incredibly friendly, generous, and helpful.
5000 per person per night.
They have legit the best hot cocoa I’ve ever tried here, and it’s next to a lot of wonderful trails if you are staying for a few days.
