Beautiful place near the Resurrection River, some spots in the dry gravel river bed, watch for the water level! Four-wheel drive needed only if going really far out. Designated Special Use Area allowing camping for up to 8 nights.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Very big open space with lots of fire pits beside the river. Away from the highway. Not too loud. No cell service.
Report Check-InAs described. We're in a 38' w/ toad. No issues. Except Seward had a flood warning, and we decided to move the next day to higher ground. The water did move in quickly, but we didn't see it reach the roadside areas.
Report Check-InOpen space in which many RVs, cars or any kind of vehicle can enter. As it is open it is quite windy and there is no privacy.
Report Check-InIt looks great but the entry has been washed out a bit. We didn’t go in, maybe I baby my ‘home in wheels’ a bit more than others but I just didn’t feel good about the entry. It might be great, but…
Report Check-InSo many spots to choose from with semi-privacy and a beautiful view! We got our 32 ft RV in without scraping. Posting a pic of the entrance as we were leaving.
Report Check-InGreat place. Got in easily past the two boulders with a Buick Lucerne. Lots of spots with fire rings, some less private than others. Some spots along the tree lines that you could tuck tents in. Nice view of the mountains. There was a group that seemed to be there long-term that had kids who were loud until 10 and another group of kids dirt biking around the entire area that evening, but otherwise good place. Some road noise.
Report Check-InPulled in past the 2 entrance boulders here in a Fort Transit 350xl AWD, no problem. Beautiful spot. Only problem was that there was a guy tweaking and dancing? next to a scrappy trailer and 2 burnt-out looking cars near the road in. Some flood danger and heavy rain, so we were not comfortable venturing too far from the road in. Went a few miles further in, to a nice paved pullout.
Report Check-InQuiet first night, some crazy guys using the place as live firing range for half an hour on Sunday night. Stay near forest for bush toilet
Report Check-InWow this place is great! We've been in AK for a month and this is the best spot we've found so far and it's free! A little hard to find because there's a boulder blocking half the already narrow entrance. Yes it is a little tricky but I got my 30' TT back here with no problem. Everyone is spread out so it feels like REAL camping. Beautiful views on the river. Sure beats staying in a parking lot in the city RV park in town for 40 bucks a night with no amenities except better cell service.
Report Check-InNice place by the Resurrection River bed.
GPS coordinate is accurate: just look for a narrow entrance with two big rocks.
No 4x4 required. Just move slowly and check for the best path. Windy and cold at night.
Gorgeous! 15m from Exit Glacier, 15m from town. Intermittent Verizon service. 24ft van, no 4x4, no problem - Rocky, just watch where you’re goin. Saw an airstream make it in. PLEASE NO FIREWORKS/CANNONS. (Heard 2 LOUD blasts the other night that shook the van they were so close 😳😶🌫️) This is an EPIC FREE spot, that we’d love to see stay that way!!
Report Check-InHuge flat riverbed. Many other campers here in cars with tents, truck campers, vans, and a variety of other class B and C rigs. You don't really need 4WD to get in here as evidences by others parked around me. Vast and beautiful views. Not sure how exactly we spotted the left turnout other than we just kept looking down each little cutoff to the road on the left and this one looked pretty doable so we tried it and voila! Everyone was here. Drove out and parked as close to flowing water as we could. Arrived on a dry partly cloudy day with no rain in the forecast. This spot must be what the NP ranger meant by "camping on the riverbank... just watch out if it floods." Barely a drizzle of cell connection. MANY existing fire rings. Some litter...c'mon folks, don't leave your beer cans, chewing tobacco pouches and other detritus behind. You reflect poorly on all of us.
Report Check-InBoondocking in the middle of the river bed? Yes please and thank you!
Report Check-InThis is an awesome place to camp. It is off road so no class As or long Motorhomes.
One of the best wild camping we did on Alaska. You need to be alert of the road to find the entrance, the space is ample and to park close or away from the other travelers. I count at least 15 cars on the days we've been around here. There were many people with tent as well. Several spaces to make bonfires, the view is amazing and we saw a bear. Simply fantastic.
@enjoytripbr
Report Check-InGreat views and tons of space. Big Expedition Truck friendly!!
Report Check-InAs others mentioned beautiful site. Can accommodate lots of campers but still be spread out & not close to others.
Report Check-InLots of space. Pretty clean but came upon a broken glass so be careful. Nothing to add to what people said above.
Report Check-InAwesome spot. Views are incredible. Large dry river bed with plenty of space. Don’t expect to be alone.
Report Check-InWonderful and quiet. This is a rock riverbed with several fire rings. You are off the road to the glacier, however, there is very little to no traffic at night. RV's were able to get into the area.
There is a boulder, however it is easy to navigate to get to the area and find your perfect spot.
Report Check-InIt’s the best place if you don’t want to stay in the official campsite in town. Lots of fire rings, plenty of space. 2wd is sufficient, even if it’s wet. Lots of travelers from all around the world.
Report Check-Inhugh area, entrance small be careful, big riverbed for hundert of cars
Report Check-InIt’s a beautiful place with lots of room, but also lots of people. The weekend that I was there, there was very loud music until way past 2am. People shooting off guns and fireworks. This noise echos off of the mountains. I would not stay a weekend again.
Report Check-InGreat spot in the riverbed, relatively easy to drive on. Massive area to choose a place. Yuck up against the trees and bushes to break the wind. Convenient to Exit Glacier and only a few miles outside of downtown Seward. Moose visit the river too.
Report Check-InNice open gravel river bed with views of the mountains. We had no problem driving in with a 2wd van. Many spots had makeshift stone fire rings, and there was plenty of fuel in the woods right nearby. There were several other campers here when we stayed but everyone was spread out and it was pretty quiet at night.
Report Check-InThis place is magic! Stunning! If you have a high clearance 4x4 w/ off-road suspension RIG, you’re going to have a lot of FUN! ;-)
There is so much space! Very windy but the bugs weren’t too bad over here.
1 bar Verizon LTE.
So many people. Monday night. Music from three different cars. Kids on dirt bikes. Beautiful spot but the noise and lack of privacy is a bummer.
Report Check-InNice dispersed camping, maybe a dozen rigs spread out but I’ve seen it with nearly 100 earlier in the summer
Report Check-InThis place is in wrong location - it is located at 60.16680, -149.49857
Report Check-InStayed here for 3 nights in the exact same spot from Wed through Friday. I would take my rig into town, do stuff and come back and my spot was available. The place is huge and there is ton of space for many, many rigs. One of the days a couple of locals came by and started practicing shooting with targets towards the river and mountains. The sound gets pretty loud as the sound bounces back in all the mountain ranges... they stayed shooting for about an hour and then left and never came back, that was on Wednesday. Also, I would be careful to look at wind forecast. We got a pretty windy night on Friday and ended up getting sand in much of the tent.
Report Check-InGreat spot! When you arrive you need to drive around a big boulder and it opens up. There is a single spot on the right immediately after the boulder. Any car can make it to this point and it’s beautiful
There is a little ditch you need to drive over to get to the other spots. A normal sedan and larger can make it. RVs were slightly scraping but nothing bad. Our low profile vehicle couldn’t make it so stayed at the first spot. Sitting log and camp fire spots
Report Check-InNice spot with lots of space for many, many rigs. GCI and ATT weren't great where we parked.
Report Check-InStayed for 3 nights is this awesome spot with gorgeous views, tons of space and GCI cell service. There’s so much room and when we were here there was about 12+ rigs. Getting in is a bit tight and we saw some bigger rigs being careful to not bottom out so just be mindful of that.
Report Check-InAs per other comments a very handy place to the Exit Glacier and yes can be noisy on the weekend ATV’s, fireworks etc but they respectively stop at a decent time. Plenty of vehicles of all types both nights we were here
Report Check-InGorgeous riverside camping locations, with views of the mountains, river and glaciers. There are a lot of spaces for 4x4 vehicles to access the location.
Report Check-InGreat spot. The area next to the river is huge. Any car can access the close spots. With a bit of high clearance (not even 4wd) you can go really far out. Really nice views in every direction.
Report Check-InGreat camping in the river bed of Resurrection River. Endless space, great view, very quiet. Ca 20 other campers were here during our stay.
Report Check-InLocal Ótimo e seguro para acampar. A apenas 5km do centro da cidade e 5 km do Kenai Fjords Nat. Park.
Report Check-InVery nice large spot. You have to go beyond 2 big rocks . There was many camper.
Report Check-InGreat spot, go past the big Boulder and take your pick at a site.
Report Check-InIs the only access point into Resurrection river, providing so LOTS of space, when the water is low. Locals come here for shooting, partying etc, but it's easy to find a quiet place. Great mountain and river views. Google fi connects
Report Check-InAs described before, beautiful scenery conviniently located to visit the Exit Glacier. Some trucks came at dusk and started shooting their guns while playing loud music (it was Friday night). After a few hours they left and we had a good night of sleep. No need of 4wd if you stay close to the entrance. No AT&T reception.
Report Check-InEpic spot on the river, four wheel drive not necessary unless you plan to ford section of the river. Popular hangout for the locals and lots of trash.
Report Check-InGreat place, empty when we were there. Be careful driving around as if you get lost you will get stuck.
Report Check-InUnbelievable views. It definitely gets a lot of people, including several large groups of locals that come to have massive bonfires but amazingly it was never noisy. Between the wind and the sheer vastness of the space available, it can feel like your own. If you want more privacy, drive (carefully) further away from the entrance.
Report Check-InThis spot is within a special use area where camping is permitted for 8 days. The area extends from the large paved parking area at the beginning of the USFS back nearly to the main road. There is a sign at the beginning of the USFS pulloff showing a map of the area.
Report Check-InAs described, if you drive carefully you‘ll find a spot for every kind of vehicle; quite busy and some of the campers are....SPECIAL..you can have a calm night if you choose the right spot
Report Check-InLot of space but also a lot of cars. You don’t need a 4WD but high clearance is definitely better.
Report Check-InWay better that parking in town. Lots of room, there were 6 RVs here, with plenty of space in between. 4x4 not required, just drive carefully. Great views of the mountain and river.
Report Check-InYes, thats the best free camp in town! You not realy need 4x4 but if you like to go further in high clearence is recommend.
We stayed two nights, it's nice and quite at night. "Parking lots" in Seward charge you 20 USD per night for nothing...
Bring your own fire wood, dry one is limited!
Report Check-InFree camping near exit glacier national park. Very beautiful site sitting just off the road and through the woods. It's easy to miss. You can camp close to resurrection river.
Report Check-InFree- check the little access entrance for the river on the left side of the road to Exit Glacier. Beautiful view, fire spots, calm, no traffic
Report Check-Inbeautiful place near the river, some spots in the dry gravel river bed, watch for the water level !, 4x4 recommend
