Something not right?

Description

BLM Land (good for vans or smaller). Found this place on the map of dispersed BLM campsites. Listed as medium difficulty to access, but WOW was it awful. The road is so incredibly rocky with big dips. I was pulling a small trailer and it was a nightmare. I scraped everything up. The worse part is that when I got to the site it was literally just a small rocky dirt pullout along this terrible rocky road.

NEVER EVER attempt this with a trailer. It's good that people know this exists, but in my opinion it should be used exclusively for truck campers. Can't even be used for tents as the ground is too rocky and unlevel.

Not far off the road into Great Basin but was far enough that it seemed private.

Spent one night here, lovely views, nice and quiet with sounds of the stream nearby. Road coming in was pretty rough so need to travel here cautiously.

Excellent little spots along an irrigation stream running from the mountain. low lying bushes, so no tree cover. Beautiful views all the way around. You're definitely in the big bowl of the valley. Plenty of hikes up the mountain and not far from the visitors center.

Wow...more than a few spots to camp. 360° views. 4WD not needed. It is rocky...but doable in almost any car. Quiet with the sound of running water.

Your camping in the basin...when you look West that's the park and Wheeler Mtn. Sunset was amazing since I clouds.

Highly recommend this spot. Free and Clean..let's keep it that way.

Rough road coming in but made it with 2WD in a minivan. I found it difficult to find pull outs, it seemed like the road went on forever without being able to find a spot or somewhere you could turn around. Otherwise great views, super close to the park and town, loved hearing the stream, and spotty Verizon connection.

Beautiful view of the mountains, and the equally beautiful sounds of a very very full creek given all of the snow still melting. Sure, the immediate surroundings are desert and not as pretty as those mountains, but it was lovely nevertheless.

Great BLM spot along a rushing creek with perfect views of the Great Basin National Park. I pulled a 20' trailer in and while rocky, a couple of the access roads were fine if you go slow. Use the first driveway as you are coming out of town. The second is unpassable with a trailer, hitch dragged when we took it without the trailer. There is a pool in the stream to take a cold dip in if so inclined.

not for big rigs— van or smaller. but would argue that this is not 4WD only…we avoided this spot at first, but decided to try it out on our second night at Great Basin. our 2WD van did fine pulling into one of the level spots. yes, tons of rocks, but if you take it slow, you really shouldn’t have an issue. it’s an incredibly scenic site. there’s a stream running nearby, so you can hear some water. these are the coordinates we stayed at: 39.01159, -114.13180 confirmed it is BLM.

Camped slightly up the road from this spot. You do not need 4WD currently to access this spot. We are in a truck camper and had no issues, but any regular car can access this (slightly bumpy short drive off the main road leading up to GBNP). Right by the river and amazing views of the park. Great spot to spend the night with quick access to town and park!
