Description
Large field in the woods with plenty of space for big rigs on Army Corps of Engineers land. Nicely shaded along south side.
We camped for 5 days in a 25ft Class C. A couple of locals came by but no one else stayed. One of the locals told us the gate had been locked and there was no access for a bit, not sure why.
There is one established fire pit in the NW corner.
Cell service is spotty, but we made it work. Mostly 1 bar on ATT and Verizon.

Wonderful place to camp. Lots of space and very little litter. The campsite was very far away from light pollution. No permanent fire pits, but you can see remnants of others fire pits so we just burned in those spots.
DIRECTIONS: the destination is on google maps, makes it very convenient. However the directions stop at the entrance. We drove past a sign that said primitive camping (we thought it said private and kept going), that’s the entrance to the camp ground!
The Battlefield Park is closed until April, but you can still access the boat ramps.
Very ideal place! Remember to practice Leave No Trace!
Report Check-InThis was a wonderful place to camp at! Lots of space, very little litter, few people when arrived. The creek was dried up when we arrived so we didn’t have a water source. No permanent fire pits but you can see where people have contained their fires in the past. Lots of sticks and twigs for starting a fire. The environment was so lush and diverse! I had a ball with my Seek/Inaturalist app. It was easy to set up a hammock.
Directions: the coordinates were solid, and you can find the spot on Google maps. However the directions stop at the entrance of the Battlefield Park. You’ll see a sign that says “Primitive Camping” on your right (we drove by it thinking it said private camping) turn into that entrance.
The ground was solid to drive on with our Toyota Camry, though it wasn’t muddy. (It did rain heavily the day before and was still solid)
