Description

Really great boondocking site 10 minutes from route 2, got here in the afternoon and stayed overnight with no problems and saw only two other cars. This is a trailhead parking for the falls which is beautiful and only a 5-10 minute hike. The only signs we saw here said: “alcohol prohibited”. The road in was a bit bumpy but any 2WD vehicle could make it just take it slow. 2 bars LTE in Verizon. Not ideal for large rigs! I suggest you check it out on foot before you pursue.

lovely little spot. Def no big rigs. 3-4 bars verizon. I stayed 2 nights, got there late, night one, it's pitch black. The drive into these coordinates is currently a mud pit. There are 2 spaces a vehicle can fit next closed road post near these coordinates (road previously washed out and no longer in use) right next to the pond. There is another site just before this as well, but very unlevel. I have a high roof cargo, I earned my pinstripes getting here, so the smaller, the better. I left during the day and came back at sunset for the next night. A couple people coming and going, otherwise quiet alllll night. The balance rock trail nearby isn't worth it, but the falls trail is a gem! There are black bears here. I saw a cub at the base of the falls, adult crossing the road a half mile from this site, and a few bits of scat as well. Def not for parking long term, I feel I pushed it a bit even staying a second night.

Very quiet, secluded spot right off of Tannery Pond next to Tannery Falls parking lot. Tannery road has collapsed over the pond, making this a perfect parking spot for a smaller vehicle to camp for the night. No interruptions and woke up to a beautiful view of Tannery Pond. Beware of rough roads entering the area.

Really nice, secluded spot next to Tannery Pond. The road is rough upon entry but doable if you drive carefully. No sleep disruptions, no bear sightings, no other campers, very quiet and beautiful view in of the pond. The small bridge over the pond is out, so the parking lot and trailhead are only accessible by foot.

Solid camping spot, not a super well kept looking trail (or road - it’s out past the trailhead parking due to recent storms) at the moment but the little parking area seems great for an overnight. Lovely spots to dip in the creek. Fire ring that looks like it gets some use. The road in wasn’t as bad as the other commenters prepped us for in a RWD van with decent clearance we made it just fine.

Great wild camping spot (no facilities). Stayed here for 1 night while visiting North Adams. Very quiet and private. (Don’t get intimidated by the rough road going in). And definitely take the trail down to the falls! Absolutely beautiful!

I'm a local, and have been coming here my whole life. This area is safe. I just wanted to add in that the falls are great, and referring to another comment, this is great for children and dogs. Both are welcome. It is not a place to setup a legitimate campsite, but an overnight stay shouldn't be a problem DCR (Department of Conservation and Recreation) or EPO (Environmental Police) may boot you if they see you're hanging out long term. if you like this place, check out Waconah Falls in Dalton (not too far away), and walk up the river along the trail. its also a great place to see! Enjoy, and please keep it clean! MA doesn't take trashing places easy, and it's nothing to them to shut places down for this reason.

Highly recommended. Very quiet except for a few cars pulling through for unknown reasons, a little spooky. Crude fire ring but i wouldn’t risk using it- this isn’t a campground so please dont ruin it for the rest of us by being disrespectful.
Some trash, consider bringing a bag to clean up a little so we can keep this open and allowed. Pack in pack out. Slightly difficult dirt road in but doable in my van.
You can hear some smaller falls while you sleep. Larger falls a 1 mile slightly difficult slippery hike- not for kids or dogs- but so worth it. Everything I love about New England condensed- moss, cliffs, roaring rivers. 1-2 bars reception.
Go- you’ll love it- but don’t cook out, grill, or bring big rigs. Enjoy!
