Something not right?

Description

Wild camping along Beretta Rd right off Hwy 16 between Rapid City and Mt Rushmore. Many spots, room for lots of rigs. Easy access on a maintained dirt road. No problem getting our 44’ 5th wheel in.

This area is often used for target practice. There is a good backstop to the southwest, and lots of brass & shells on the ground. There were a few people farther up shooting when we got here around 6pm. They all left as soon as it got dark.

I verified this is National Forest land, and is not private property.

Latest Check-Ins

The good — right by the highway and easily accessible with any type of rig. Well maintained gravel road that drains well — it’s been raining and storming fir two days and the road and parking area are still in good condition. The bad — as others said, it’s the locals shooting range. It wasn’t too bad during the day but folks came by well into the night and were shooting off clips. Last one stopped around 1am and started again in the morning. Not much rest — perhaps avoid this place on a weekend.

Report Check-In

Nice spot to camp but we were made a little nervous by the amount of trash piled everywhere, it seems like someone has made it their dump or there has been some serious parties here. I sure hope its not Overlanders making the mess. anyway it is quiet after the one car that flew through just sbout dark.

Report Check-In

Good location for bigger rigs for a over night stay, heavily used for shooting during the day, shells everywhere. Mostly quiet, a few vehicles if your a light sleeper.

Report Check-In

Stayed three nights. Decent dirt road off highway. Numerous pull offs for RV’s.
The daytime is filled with 1-6 vehicles target practicing. So be aware of that.
This is in the Black Hills National Forest. Dispersed camping.
No one but me was here camping.
Nights were beautiful.
Smoke snow still on the edge of the road and in the shadows of hills and trees.
7.4 to Mount Rushmore Memorial.
20 miles the other way to Rapid City, which has anything you need. A good sized city.

Report Check-In

lots of shooting, many patrons, lots of space, no noise from highway
