Grovedale Fish Pond Day Use Area located 30km south of Grande Prairie on the Hwy 40.
Easy access from the hwy, well marked with a sign.
Flat parking lot, clean washrooms with tp.
It seems that you can camp overnight in the parking lot and I would say also on the grass in front of the pond. Flat ground, picnic table and fire ring, wood provided. A nice place, really!
Quiet, a little bit close to the hwy but no major issues regarding the noise.
This was a jackpot find. After traveling from North Pole Ak and only staying on some pull off spots here and there this was a treat.
We did not let the dog or us go swimming as we took the warning seriously. We did take a nice walk around and we’re amazing at the nice space here for picnics and fire pits.
We cooked ribeyes and the fixings and enjoyed a little bit of wine too.
The fall colors are a big bonus too.
Report Check-InNice rest area, there are no ‘ no camping’ signs, however the main sign says campers are to follow the park rules which are you accept complete responsibility and cannot sue the municipality for any reason. So we decided to give the park a try. We boondocked in the parking lot where there is two pit toilets.
Park itself has several fire rings, picnic tables and a covered pavilion. Swimming may be ok but there is a sign warning about ‘whirling disease’ - a new one on us, but no cell reception to look up more details about it. So we did not swim or go paddle boarding.
Report Check-InNice coffeebreak and swim place, fire pits, bbqs, even free wood, tables and a laaaaaarge pacillon. Good for cyclists. Lakes allows a clean swim. Highway close and heard but ok to sleep. Camping probably not allowed officially?
