16-hour parking sign, lots of other RVs parked. Big parking lot that has a restroom that closes at dusk. Very close to the beach too. Please don’t overstay your welcome and don’t be a slob.

Latest Check-Ins

Signs posted stating 16h limit and explicitly prohibiting overnight 10p-5a with police cars seen doing occasional drive bys (~9p)

Didn't feel comfortable parking/sleeping in the lot. Had no trouble parking 1nt (9p-7a) on the street just to the west before yellow curb.

Report Check-In

Nice open lot, but they do monitor the 16 hr limit tightly. We got in around 2:30 and needed a place to settle, so we parked here, figuring there would be a bit of wiggle room in the morning, but we had a ticket on our windshield by 9am for staying too long. Oddly enough, there were several run down looking rings parked along the street which were there before we got there and after we left with no tickets. Stay limit just applies to city lots, but the street parking isn't great if you need to be level

Parking from 10 pm to 5 am is not allowed

Report Check-In

Newport is cracking down on RVs staying overnight. Older people think it’s people coming down from Portland and “invading”. We got woken up by a cop around 8:30am saying we were not allowed to stay here overnight. In our opinion, Newport isn’t very RV friendly anymore. Stay at your own risk.

Report Check-In

Events are held now and again like plays and there is a play ground near by for kiddos to play on in the good weather spacious parking.

Report Check-In

There's 2 different signs here, one
16 hours PARKING TIME LIMIT IN ALL CITY LOTS and the other one is more confusing
ALL PARKS ARE CLOSED TO ALL PERSONS EXCEPT AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL FROM 10 PM TO 5 AM DAILY.
I stayed here for the night no problem.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet lot on a rainy night a few blocks off the 101. 16 hour parking limit.

Report Check-In

In the parking lot of the performing arts.

Report Check-In

Spend a quiet night and morning here. Parking lot has garbage bins and porta-potties. Close to the beach for a morning walk.

Report Check-In

A very quiet night. All as described with a short hike to wander the beach. No night time interruptions and only three of us in a large lot.

Report Check-In

We arrived around 4 p.m. and left around 8:30. We first parked by the playground but moved by the hedge in the evening. Our rig is 30', no issues.

Report Check-In

Tried to stay there, got „the knock“ by the police at 11pm. Nice guy, told us sleeping in the parking lot after business hours is not allowed. The 16h stay signs are for the „main streets“ only. He told us to move to one of the streets, we did so.

Report Check-In

Nice, quiet and safe place to stay. Several others boondocked here. The bathroom lock wasn't working though, but all in all it was a great place near the beach.

Report Check-In

We stayed here 2 nights. Left during the day, of course. Very clean and safe area. No one bothered us. We ate at Pacific Kitchen restaurant just next to this parking lot. Delicious food and great service.

Report Check-In

stayed here overnight with no issues whatsoever. nice quiet little lot by the beach

Report Check-In

We stayed two different nights passing up and down the coast. There were vans, schoolies and campers. Everyone was quiet and respectful. A few homeless passed through. One woke us yelling, but we fell back asleep with no problem. Verizon signal was good. Beach access just around the corner. The city is just a few blocks away. We would stay, again.

Report Check-In

We are parked on SW Coast St in front of the Performing Arts Center Parking lot, on the street, not in the lot!

We are in a self contained vehicle, not homeless, happens to be in a nearby city to settle our daughter into her Uni apartment! We decided to return to the coast!

Most public/city lots here have a sign “16-hr limit”.

There are no “no overnight parking“ signs on residential streets which are public spaces unless indicated otherwise as private land or private property or private driveway!

We parked in the lot overlooking the ocean during our prior trip here in December 2021 and had zero issues! Noone bothered us.

Don’t leave a mess or make a lot of noise! Don’t overstay.

Here is the link to the city ordinance! https://newportoregon.gov/dept/adm/ordinances/2170/ord_2170.pdf

The ordinance was addressing homelessness issues and recreational vehicle parking on private properties during special events!

Report Check-In

This place is being abused. There is clearly someone living in the lot, a vanner with their possessions laying on the ground around their rig and no one around and several piles of trash on the ground. This is ridiculous people!!

Report Check-In

We were one of MANY people staying overnight. At one point we counted 14 camper vans and our truck/travel trailer. Level enough for one night. Next to a playground and within walking distance of the ocean. Lots of garbage cans. Great Verizon reception.
