Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
People need to keep in mind that "This is a Marina...for Boats". We overlanders are only a 2ndary thought. Having once been a sailing cruiser, I am comfortable and know what to expect. Parked next to the sandblasting area toward the back, it has been Ok, as the sandblasting has not been active during my stay.
I came here to have a repair to my RTT cover.
People are friendly, however, one does feel like you are only a walking $$ sign. After 25 years owning multiple boats and many miles under the keel, I got tired of all the expense, labor and watching these poor souls scraping, sanding and painting has only reafirmed that Overlanding has been a more relaxed mode of seeing the world.
If you want to get parked next to an industrial, gas powered air compressor while somebody gets their hull sandblasted for endless hours, this is the place for you.
Fantastic bathrooms, though.
Edit: I had some troubles pop up, and ended up needing to stay here for three weeks.
The good: the bathrooms. The staff is super friendly. The ability to meet a cool community of other global travelers with minimal effort. The fact that it is very safe and secure. As in, armed guards walking the property at night with flashlights and such. DIY laundry.
The bad: 75Q without electricity is really expensive for a long stay in an ugly, noisy, smelly, industrial boat yard. I talked to them about a discount, and after haggling I ended up getting one free night.
DIY laundry is $5usd per load (which is good or bad, depending on how you look at it).
The tienda onsite is super overpriced.
The walk into town is one of squeezing your body out of the way of an endless parade of trucks. Doing it once with my dog was enough. If you can snag a lancha or dinghy ride, that's the way to go.
In three weeks, there were two other vehicle travelers, a French family and a Swiss French couple.
The guards directed the French family to park in a spot that was directly downwind of hull sandblasting. They got all set up and had their side door open broadside to the direction of the breeze. Then the sandblasting started up and their van was immediately filled with an opaque cloud of toxic dust. They left immediately.
The Swiss French couple was parked roughly in the same place the day after sandblasting was finished. They stayed for two nights while they went to Livingston, then left without incident.
All in all, I regret the need to stay here for so long. The specific place had me ready to leave after one night, and the social life aside, the ensuing 19 did little to change my opinion.
Hate to bag on a place with such friendly staff, but for most vehicle travelers, it's really only good for the security and the bathrooms.
We slept here for 2 nights (75Q per night per vehicle). We asked to park near the water rather than in the construction site car park. The sanitary facilities are clean and modern, surely one of the best showers we have had on our trip. The only negative point is that you can hear the trucks slowly going up or down the bridge. This marina is practical, on foot it takes 20 minutes to reach the colectivos pier for Livingston, even if it is certainly possible to take it directly here by asking them.
Report Check-InThis is a very nice marina with very nice and big boats! They had a great marina store and little convince store with drinks and snacks. They had lots of seating near the water with a little outside kitchen and some picnic tables to sit at and they had a great little lookout seating spot on the third floor of the marina with beautiful views of the lake. They even let us do some yoga up there with the view! They also had very nice clean hot showers and bathrooms. The only downside is the actual spot where you camp. It’s pretty much a little gravel lot next to where they fix boats but we were the only ones there camping at the time so we pretty much had the whole space to ourselves which was nice! They also had electricity that we also had all to ourselves and could run and use whatever we wanted. They charge $75Q a night and then they charged $8Q per watts of electricity you use. This spot is nothing fancy but for the price it was a great place to stop and they have laundry which was awesome!
Report Check-Invery Secure, quiet at night. Security on site. we used the boat hire shown earlier( Alexis) They were an hour late and the boat was ill prepared. . The staff in the Marina Office were very friendly . cost 75 Qtz per night. Toilets and showers excellent. Electricity available at extra cost. Water available.
We spent 3 nights here, perfect for taking a lancha and enjoying the Rio Dulce all the way to the livingston. The staff is super friendly, access to showers (hot water) and toilets, a lot of travelers in RV or boat, very good moments of sharing all together.
Report Check-InWe stayed here 2 nights. It’s probably the best spot for Río Dulce. The bathrooms are ridiculously clean and they have hot water for showers. We slept on leveled ground. 75 qtz per day. It’s super safe too. Busy marina, but quiet at night.
Report Check-InPerfect spot for one night! Much better and same price than Brunos and Mar Marine! 75q per campervan. Amazing bathrooms with hot water, clean spot, nice staff, we enojoyed watching the big boats. You can hear a little bit the cars at the road but not as loud as Brunos.
We went to Livingston for a couple of nights and left the car parked at Brunos that is $25 per day and the colective boat can pick you up there.
Probably not ideal for a long term stay (because it's an active marina), but, great stop. Good facilities, secure, friendly staff. Would stop again.
Report Check-InTwo nights, good facilities, great hot showers! We loved the convenience of the little market and did several loads of laundry as well. Everyone was super friendly.
Report Check-InThis is not the nicest place where you cn stay in Rio Dulce but price of 75 q per night for two people is worth it. You have nice bathrooms, good Wifi, water, grocerie store, Restaurant close by.
Report Check-InMuy bonito lugar
Better organised than MAR, half the price at big rig 75q per night
electric, potable water to fill big water tank.
area at shop and water front very pleasant.
Further away than MAR from the bridge so much quieter.
No pool!
Possibly the best place to stay in Rio Dulce. You don’t get much of a water view where you park, but the WiFi is good and the showers and toilets are VERY clean. Lots of hot water.
Don’t eat at the little Marina restaurant inside their convenience store. It’s not worth it at all.
Do your grocery shopping before coming, it’s a real pain walking to and from the shopping street.
Other than that, it really is a great place!
Report Check-Inbest spot. clean facilities with hot showers, other overlanders, water spouts everywhere, away from the road. if you ask nicely you may even be able to park under one of the massive yacht garages to get out of the rain. guard let us in after hours
Report Check-InRAM marina gate entrance. Person opens the gate and hands plastic card. 75 q to park and use facilities. Electricity outlets nearby with showers and bathrooms. All very clean. Quiet and peaceful.
Report Check-Inthe park place is in the backyard but it wasn't noisy...a little bit of breeze...75Q/night for our RV (2adults/1child)..nice staff..good place for going to Livingston...and un town with a tuck-tuck because so crowded...nice staff and great showers and toilets..
Report Check-InGreat place. The guard let us in though we came after office hours. As described.
We paid 35Q for the car and 2 persons.
The food was mediocre but the little 'supermarket' has a bit of everything.
We would stay here again!
Came here after Bruno's wouldn't budge from 65. Yes it's 75 here but so much more tranquillo, you have no pool but outstanding showers and toilets, water fill up a little shop and also a propane refill store next door. You can walk to town and was a really peaceful night - highly recommend!
Report Check-InWe were disappointed here. we expected to be able to park near the water, but the parking area is at the back of the boat-yard. the only view is of (many) boats being repaired. On the plus side, bathrooms are very nice and it's peaceful all night. 75Q seemed a bit steep for what it is but the staff are friendly and helpful.
Report Check-In
Really nice marina with beautiful boats all around. You park in a parking lot but they have extremely clean bathrooms and showers with toilet paper. There is WiFi in the office, near the store etc.. they have a small store with everything you’d need and a small restaurant. All of the employees were very friendly.
We paid 75 Q per night. Electricity is an option but not sure how much extra. Highly recommend this location.
We also took a boat tour on a lancha privada. It was gorgeous and fun. I’ll add tour guides information in pictures. We used WhatsApp to contact him and he speaks great English and was very professional.
Stayed here twice and at the other once. Enjoyed this site better, the other is very busy and is the parking lot in front of the restaurant. Bring your own food the restaurant is not good. The store is nice however it caters to the boaters and prices are quite high. Showers and bathrooms are great. Laundry on site - 40 Q. Office is open from 8 am - 5 pm.
Report Check-InWe were charged 75q. I didn't pay extra for electricity. place is quiet, spacy, great shower and WiFi. Far from the town but you can get picked up by colecficos boat from here too. Reserve in advance
Report Check-InAs described. Several different parking areas to be sent to. Paid 50q for two persons to camp plus fee for electric used which was another 27q upon departure. We ran AC overnight with that. There are small boats available to take you to other places from here (restaurants, town, etc) a bit noisy due to workers around us, but overall a nice place.
Report Check-InWith a big rig they charged us 100 qtz for one night or 75 qtz per night for a week. It's ships maintenance and storage area.
Good wifi. ATM. Small basic grocery for emergencies. small shipshandler but batteries are cheaper at agromar in the village. Pic- Nic Area with palapa, shared BBQ and sink.
This place is in wrong location - it is located at 15.65609, -88.99366
Report Check-Inhot showers, clean toilets, paid 75 gtq per night for camper van and 2 persons without electricity. Trip to Livingstone with return available with collectivo. 200 gtq per person.
Report Check-InNice place, hot showers, electricity, laundry, but wifi very very slow.
