This coordinate is the road to at least 4 campgrounds (I drove inside 3 of them — Kendall, Salton and one next to Salton on the other side of the river) in my Sienna minivan. It’s a washboard road but very doable for me. I ended up taking a pull out spot along the road ( there are many of these all along the road) overlooking the river and a pond.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. Solid road getting in. But I’m amazed I one has mentioned the bugs. Maybe it’s just the spot I’m in. Chose a roadside fire ring to get away from the crowds. It was lovely after the sun went down but wow. Holy flies and mosquitoes. Mostly flies. The campsites along here are stunning but busy in the summer it seems. Plenty of tent sites or if youre willing to walk down from your camper or van. Hopefully just not as buggy as this one site.
Still chose to stay and do the ice lake hike up the road tomorrow. Just beware.
Great location and 2 solid bars of LTE Verizon.
