Designated dispersed camping.
Do not ask google maps to guide you to this location - you will get routed to the wrong side of the river.
A commanding position high above Rt 92 in the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area East of Delta, CO. The road in is rocky but should offer no trouble for most vehicles, but there are a couple of tight turns so towed vehicles not recommended. 4WD is not necessary. This site is about 1.25 miles in, but there are several sites along the way. Excellent AT&T.

This is designated dispersed camping with a 7 day limit. Of note it is > 4 miles from where the maintained gravel road ends and the rougher dirt road takes you to the end point on this map. We gave up after 2.5 miles as the road was so long and rough. Ended up next to the river which was nice.
