Cabinda>Soyo - 1 motorcycle + 1 pax

They don’t have daily departures to Soyo - I think Mon/Wed/Fri scheduled departures at 13:00 - check-in @ 11:00.
(Be prepared for ferry delays. Mine was delayed 24 hrs - mechanical).

I paid 112,000 kwa total Cabinda side - Honda CRF250L Rally - 220Kg.

* Soyo port fee - 20,000 kwa - with receipt. I think it was a handling scam run by shipping company - but late in day wanted to get out. *

You can pay card or cash (lots of cash available at good exchange rates at the $$ market see iOverlander Cabinda $$ pin).

Bring copies;
- passport
- vehicle title
- Angolan TIP

Friendly English speaking staff.

New Terminal, but a bit chaotic. First , go to secure parking inside terminal . Then go to the ticket sales office You will see a lot of people queuing at the windows for sale. But you have to enter the office and there is a girl who speaks very good English and will attend you. Ferry Cabinda-Soyo : the price per passenger is 12.000 Kw . And the price of motorbike depending on the weight. BMW 1200 gs adv 2010 256 kg the price is 110.552 Kw . They asked me the motorbike documentation. I went on Monday and the ferry left on Wednesday. The checking starting at 8.00 am and ends at 11.00 am. The payment is only in cash (KW).

I just rode the ferry named Cabinda (not a catamaran) from Soyo to Cabinda with my car. I'm describing my ARRIVAL by ferry in Cabinda.

Vessel arrived at 21:50, too late to pay the port fees. Car can't leave.

I talked them into letting me park the car overnight in the dock and sleep in it. Idea is to pay the port fees next morning.

See also my report about the Soyo terminal.

Next morning, I had to wait in the Secil Marítima ticket office while extensive paperwork was done to get the car out. Cecil Marítima employee took me to the nearby Empresa Portuário de Cabinda. I gave him 25600 Kw cash which he deposited at BCA bank.

Got car out of port at 16:10. This means the effort to get a car from Soyo to Cabinda took 31 hours. In addition to 14 wait days without a fixed departure date.

Plan plenty of time! First you have to buy the tickets the day before on the spot. To do this, you have to find enough cash in the city's ATMs (we tried 4 of them) or have a good bank card (ours didn't work). If you have a motorbike to load, you have to give the papers. Fortunately, some staff speak English. The next day you are asked to come at 9 a.m. for check-in, while boarding is scheduled for 1 p.m. Check-in only takes 5 minutes though... You have to wait a long time and do nothing. Then you have to load the bike theoretically around 11 a.m. but in reality it was at 1 p.m. They load the motorcycle by lifting it with slings. Pay close attention to how they are installed! We finally leave at 3 p.m. (2 hours late). Once arrived in Soyo, we were asked to pay 8000 kwz for the unloading of the 2 motorbikes. We refused at first but they didn't let us go. The price paid in Cabinda would not take into account the cost of unloading in Soyo. Scandalous but we paid... The cost of the crossing was 150,000 kwz for 2 motorbikes + 8,000 kwz unloading costs. In the end, this crossing took us a whole day!

The terminal looks super modern but the organisation is still poor and you have to insist to have your bike strapped down, otherwise they will leave without doing it. Make sure it’s secure yourself as they don’t care about such things. We boarded with 2 hours delayed anf boat left with more than 3 hours delays. Felt a bit sea sick (many others did too) so happy we didn’t go all the way to Luanda.

For sure better to get tickets day before.
I got them same day but it was a hassle and a race against the clock.

They need the weight of your bike and the TIP and passport. They make a bunch of copies.
Possible to pay cash or card. The staff is super friendly, helpful and lots of them speak English.

I payed 131.000 for a 225kg bike.
Plus 20.000 for me to luanda.

The sea can be quite rough. Lot of people got sick.
It takes 10 hours plus few more hours to unload in Luanda. They serve a bit of food unfortunately the only vegetarian option was an apple.

I wouldn't recommend taking to Luanda just go to Soho you will be much more comfortable.

Good ferry from Cabinda to Soyo (3h) or Luanda (10h / 20 000 kwz). I didn't pay anything for the bike. Better to get the ticket the day before the departure. They ask for the visa and a COVID certificate. Did Cabinda / Luanda on Monday, and there is Luanda / Cabinda on Friday. They serve food on the boat (included). Very pleasant staff.
