Large flat area with bits of dead bridge girder around in a pretty gorge. Above the river, which is very fast flowing, cold, and a bit of a down-scramble if you are going to brave the swim. We motorbike / camped but you'd be fine in a pretty large vehicle too.
Accessed via 3km or so of good dirt road, off the (so far) beautifully paved Carretera Central Sur.
Claro 3G phone signal.

Somewhat hidden from road, overgrown grass. Sandflies and mozzies - quite a few. Very warm when the sun is out
Report Check-InAgreed, nice peaceful place to park right above the river with only a little traffic. Be sure to park all the way at the back of this location for the most comfort. The entrance road is a little rocky, but nothing to worry about.
Report Check-InGreat place for one night.
Also for big rigs
Totally quiet

nice place to stay overnight. no one trobled us. but we had more than 20 vehicles passing by (luckily we retreated as far as possible). access is still pretty good.
Report Check-InMarvellous spot. We stayed here 2 days and only saw 5 or 6 cars pass. Nobody bothered us. A little train passes occasionally and toots from the other side of the river. No facilities. Free.
Report Check-Inthank you to the overlander who found this little spot. as others have described, flat, surrounded by mountains, rushing river below and kind farmers in the area. We made our first campfire in months.
Report Check-InGreat spot. Easy drive down a well maintained gravel road with our truck - sinks truck width in parts. Quiet and very scenic. After a long day's drive, it was a welcome sight.
Report Check-InLovely, quit place, we where secure!
5km before coming North, resto with trouth,
But 7.30.am. The maire+police chef asqued nicely, that it was not our intention to steal the old bridge..
We laugh after words together..
Very nice people
We went there with a 4x4 and the place is easy to go, even with a truck. No direct access to the water on the camp site, but you can go by foot. Dangerous to swim because of the speed of the water. Quiet place.
