Something not right?

Description

Quite a few spots back this way for cars, vans or pretty small RVs. I had this spot all to myself. Great Verizon cell signal
This is actually a National Forest dispersed campground

Great place in dispersed camping in the Sam Houston National Forest along the shore of Lake Conroe. The many trees, covered in Tillandsia provide shade, and a nice breeze comes from the lake that invited for a little swim. Most spots were occupied every night. NF was doing prescribed burns to prevent bigger forest fires during dry season, the air smelled very aromatic! Sites are easy to reach, some are dry, others a little swampy. Great cell service.

awesome place at the lake, more warmer close to the water.
the gate is closed from 12 September to 15 March, but there is a way at the right to pass with your van.

beautiful and chill spot. was on iOverlander, then removed so I put it back on. quiet, other than a few fishermen in their boats passing b. shaded, right in the water. a few spots available. map takes you to a dirt "parking" spot. go through the gate on the left and follow the path. first left is the best spot. ok for 2wd low clearance. gates open after March 21. some mosquitos flying around.one or the best van camp spot I've been to

Report Check-In

Few nice spots by a lake, a bit of garbage around. Road would be a bit bumpy if a regular RV, vans ok
Pretty quiet, some wildlife (alligators) in the lake
No tables, no amenities, FREE

Spoke with the ranger and they said the gate opens again in March (1st or 21st, can't remember). You can still tent camp at this location, just vehicles are not allowed down there at this time.

FYI, the lake access camping on this trail is apparently closed after late September. The gate is closed with a sign. So, if you’re here and it’s closed, just head up to the Kelly’s pond camping area.

Beautiful Forrest area next to the lake. There are several spots to putt off to. Going Mon-Thursday you will most likely have the spot to yourself. Haven’t gone on a weekend inorder to avoid people. Only noise you may have are the random boats or jet skis passing.

Report Check-In

Beautiful lake side camping during the week days.
