Large parking area on a hilltop overlooking Truckee. View from some points. No parking signs. We parked about 100m away from Cottonwood Restaurant. Very peaceful except for the train at 7am (I think the whole of Truckee can hear it). Recommend.

almost camped here, but it just felt really odd. just surrounded by dilapidated houses. not even sure if camping here is actually allowed. (park across the river at the “Beacon Lot” instead!)
Report Check-InIn theory this place is great. However, it felt sketchy being the only van in lot while workers are driving home from restaurant after 10PM. Also, some random car creeped by and parked 20 ft from my van with headlights off, and was just sitting there texting on their phone. Pitch black tint on vehicle but could see the light reflecting from screen. Seemed unsafe so I left and hit the gravel road near by. I’m cool with sound this place feels much safer.
