Description

Very nice campsite, just outside the park.
Behind the railway line, just outside Kennedy Gate, opposite Hide Camp inside the park.
35 USD for up to 4 people.
Hot bucket shower, flush toilet, both open to the stars, brai area, fire wood included!
No electricity, but an absolutely brilliant night sky!
Lenmo, the very friendly caretaker, keeps the site and your private ablutions speckless clean.
He will prepare hot water, and start your fire.
He will also help you setting up your tent, and washing your dishes, so basically, he will be your personal butler!
I don't think the last two items are included in his job description, so I think it's appropriate to give him a tip at the end!
There is a waterhole near the campsite, and there were plenty of animal tracks and elephant dung on the campsite, but we didn't see any animals around when we were there.
You need to enter the park at Main Camp in order to pay the park entrance fees, and leave through Kennedy Gate. No payments at Kennedy Gate!
Latest entry through Main Gate at 16:00, you need to leave through Kennedy at 18:00!
You need to pay park fees for the first and last day (and of course for the days in between), no free transit!

Amazing place. So wild, no fence. As soon as it got dark, over 200 buffalo went for a bath in the watering hole. After that dozens of elephants walked by the car to the water. In the morning we saw footprints of two leopards around the car. Incredible experience

very nice place. remote and lonely but safe and clean.

Report Check-In

A beautiful camping spot to spend a quiet and isolated couple of nights. We saw lion at the waterhole and many elephants around us in the early evening and night. We came in from Gwayi river not through Hwange NP. Directions are on the website. We did not pay NP fees as we did not go for a game drive into the park. We just enjoyed the solitude of the African bush. Highly recommend
