Tried to get to Shell Beach using directions in that post, but a large pond had overtaken the sandy road we were taking. I would guess it dries up in a month. We’re 2wd mini van so we just pulled over and tent camped. This area has A LOT of flat sandy spots for tents, vans, anything. Well packed sand this time of year (maybe year round?). Pretty quiet, clean, and empty. No view of the water even though we’re pretty close. Barely hear the highway. Very pleasant. AT&T 3g 2-4 bars. Verizon off and on.

Nice camp. We kept going and camped on the perfect sandy beach (4x4 only) Its pretty dry now but stay on the roads as the white salt flats usually become mud quickly year round. DO NOT pay if a lady comes collecting. She does not own the land. Local fishermen all told us she is a scam. Turn on your video camera and ask for her ownership papers because she has none.
Report Check-InStayed 2 nights right over the dunes to the beach. Decent access from road in, some dry mud sections but can definitely make it onto the beach with 4x4 off road vehicle. Beautiful serene beach with no one on site, amazing shells. Wind picked up but still worth the stay.
