It is more a recreational park, but they have a small camping section on the east side of the Lower Dam (with ablutions), but that part is not accessible for big rigs.
We were therefore offered to stay along the park road, directly adjacent to the greens.
Very pleasant atmosphere, very friendly staff, dead quiet at night
Not in walking distance to the city centre.
Entrance fee USD2/pp (pensioner $1), camping $5/pp, vehicle $1

Beautiful area to go for a hike etc.
They didn't want to let me stay alone in the Bush as a woman alone so they moved me in the evening next to the restaurant where the guard is staying. Made a fire for me, could use the facilities at the restaurant and everyone was just really friendly and helpful.
A group of Zimbabweans decided to lease this place from the municipal and turn it back in a beautiful park for the people. It's nice to suppprt these kind of initiatives.
Stayed the night before at the other campsite in the park and would definitely recommend this place.

Report Check-InWe can only recommend the "Hill side dams conservancy", especially for self-sufficient vehicles. Camping is also available on the east side of the Dams. We've entered the two eastern options into iOverlander (Waterfront and Bush Camp). After a thorough lumbering and mowing by the Conservancy staff, the Bush Camp is now also accessible to two-axle BigRigs.
Report Check-InVery basic but fine for a cheap place to camp in BYO. If you don’t expect too much you won’t be disappointed.
They have a toilet that flushes (no toilet seat but it was clean) - not sure about the showers as the water pressure is VERY low, so if u have your own water tanks, be sure to fill them up before arriving as it will take hours to do it here. There doesn’t seem to be any place to wash dishes. We are self sufficient so were quite happy to camp here for a night. It was a public holiday so it was a little noisy but by 7pm it calmed down and all we could hear was the bullfrogs in the dam. Still $5 pppn for camping!
Lovely place!! Very welcoming. We stayed in the office/restaurant carpark on the west for the first night and at the waterfront camping site on the second. Only campers both nights. Very quiet.
It IS big rig friendly - we had no problems with our 11T MAN. We had a very nice pizza at the restaurant ($10). The walks around the conservancy are lovely and well marked. Great spot, we really liked it.
