Description

One stop shop. Checking out of Rwanda, into Tanzania. No mask. No vaccine papers. Quick and clean. No harassment. Rwandans don’t do corruption. Tanzania usually loves to steal money. But today just paid the fees and entered. Cool waterfall under the border bridge.

As described - easy crossing. Cross the bridge from Rwanda to Tanzania. Both exit and entry happen in the same on-stop office. Busy with trucks in the morning but you can pass them.

Order of business:
1. Health officer pass (first door on the left)
2. Stamp out Rwanda
3. Visa on arrival (NL citizen). Complete form, pay USD 50,- for tourist visa 90 days
4. Stamp out carnet from Rwanda
5. Stamp in carnet in Tanzania. Customs officer wanted to see the car to check chassis number but that was it.
6. Road tax USD 5,- for transit (or 25,- for a month)

(Step 2 - 6 all take place in the same building)

Change money if you want at official office against good rates. ATM also present if you need extra (ATM charge 14,500 TSH) Plenty of people selling SIM’s against 5,000 TSH (2€) happy to help you buy prepaid at approx 20,000 TSH (8€) for 10 Gb.

One of our fastest and easiest border crossings! To our surprise visa-free for U.K. citizens up to 3 months. We changed the money just before the border and got a very good rate. Be very careful when carrying a drone though. They did check all our luggage very thoroughly!

Rwanda > Tanzania.

Still easy but be careful for road tax, they asked us a price per kilometers... So they asked us 139 usd !!
I insist saying that we have to pay 5 usd for one week and 25 usd for one month, so he was ok with 25 usd.

If you enter in Rwanda don't stop here but at the other building after the bridge. Warning drive on the right side on the bridge.

One stop indeed for entering Tanzania. It has a ATM that works with bank and credit cards and you can change money at the official rate. Also some friendly and not pushy men can hook you up with a sim card. They do the regiatration online. Paid 20.000 for 10GB and 5.000 for his service (10 euro in total). Registration of my Ugandan rental car took some time, but immigration was fast. Baboons on the border bridge by the way.

Discribed as before. There were a few truckdrivers, so we had to wait at some point. We were done in 1 hour

Everything as described before, very organised.
All in one building with signs above the the windows. If you only "transit" through Tansania, the roadfee is 5$ (7 to 10 days) instead of 25$ for a month. You can either pay in $ or Shillings at the NMB-Bank in the same building.

Single entry Visa was still valid - they told us if you stayed in the East African Community since the last exit of TZ you can enter again within the validity period of 90 days.

For the whole process we needed approx. 35 minutes 👍🏻
