Description

Turn off on the right just before Portage Lake. Large gravel lot with room for all sizes, a couple of fire rings, and along a beautiful small glacial pond and surrounded by mountains. AT&T service was intermittent.

It is not far from the road to Whittier Tunnel so you will hear traffic every once in a while and lots of people stop here to take a rest/walk their dogs/etc but was great for us for a couple nights. We just wish the weather was more cooperative as it STORMED our entire stay (but the parking lot is rocky so it wasn’t muddy - silver lining)

Large gravel site - there were 4 rental motor homes arriving just ahead of us. One vehicle already here. They got settled, we set up staying connected with our 33’5th wheel and a small truck and trailer set up. Later a class B and 2 more rental motor homes arrived. Everyone found space - just not everyone has front row seating!

It was a bit windy but did die down. Beautiful location.

yes, beautiful but busy. Parking at the end will bring you lots of foot traffic near your camp. Breezy, no mosquitoes. No restrooms means no easy spot to go if you're not fully self contained. Especially with the amount of foot traffic.

Beautiful pull off!! Tried our hand at fishing - no luck. Wasn’t windy for us. Enough space for 4 rigs.

Awesome spot for couple nights . Not too much people in middle week. Lots of room to walk the dogs.

One thing to keep in mind is that the area is notorious for fierce winds. It is an open area. The nights we stayed did end up having strong winds which buffeted our camper all night long. If it is a windy rainy day, you may want a more protected area such as the nearby USFS campgrounds.

Perfeito lugar para dormir e estar alguns dias, a vista é incrível e a cor do lago surreal. Bem pertinho do túnel que da acesso a Whittier.

Perfect place to sleep and be a few days, the view is amazing and the color of the lake surreal. Close up of the tunnel that of access to Whittier.

This is a nice site by a turquoise glacial pond and incredible views! Can handle 3-4 RV's. Close to highway so can hear noise but could at nearby USFS campgrounds.
