Something not right?

Description

Lovely quiet camp near Lodge, next to Luangwa River in the quiet Nsefu Sector, quite expensive. good open air ablutions, owner by an American family, very friendly setup and staff. Campsite does not take large groups, and is quite tight and small, so best to ring first +260 216246202, it's about 26km off the Tarmac on a tight slow track. Camp closes in wet season as access is impossible, game drives $55 pp lots of animals in this quiet part of the park. Worth a trip if you don't want the noise of the other camps, they have direct access into the park for their game drives so no need to go in via the gate

Three camping spots right on the river embankment under shady trees with a stunning view onto the riverbed. Elefants walk right through the camp. Clean shower and toilet for each spot, clean drinking water, no electricity, braai spot, very weak Airtel receiption.

Very pricy though:50US$ p.p.

Friendly
But expensive
You see and feel they will stop camping at all.

They now ask 50 USD pppn. In 2024 they will no longer offer camping.

We came from the north, self driving within the Nsefu sector for a while (free because transiting to the south) and accessed directly the camp by their private park access along the Luangwa river. 25Us ppn or 20Us ppn if African (or, for us, as residents in Africa). 3 spots quite close to each other with 3 separated open air ablution units. Beautiful sunset on the river. Elefants, hippos and pukus visited the camp. Sounds of lions and hyenas at night. Some very irregular airtel signal.

Stayed here one night only. Campsites in Zambia are not cheap, but this place is completely overpriced. 25 USD pppn, no firewood, pool not clean, no electricity plugs and no wifi. Facilities are working but no hot water and very simple. Not big rig friendly branches and entrance board too low, we had to take the wooden sign off to pass under it.

They now want a cool US$55 for 2 people. That's to camp in case you were wondering (chalets are US$750). Not surprising the campsite was empty. We moved on.

Nice campsite along the river with great view as puku, baboons, hippo’s, elephants, etc are grassing just meters away. Camp spots are simple with braai and a small roof for shade. Abolution is clean and most of the time warm water.

You can also find a restaurant where you can have a 3 course dinner for $25. Drinks start from 3/4$ so take enough with you. They also have a swimming pool, but it is not looking clean and they charge you for it.

They organise drives and walks as well which are $55 pp. This is excluding the park fee which is $25 pp.

You can pay cash or by card. If you can pay by card they charge you 3% so bring enough cash with you. For groceries or an ATM you need to drive to Mfuwe which is around 45 min drive.

Campsite runs by American owners. They ask $25 pppn, and $20 pppn wen you are South African.
Ablution block is very open, but good, with warm water.
Small swimming pool next to the restaurant you can use.
Firewood $5 p bundle.
The prices for Nsefu sector are the same as south Luangwa. They write your ticket for the park at the camp, so you don't need to go to the gate.
Nsefu is only free for transiting.
We loved game driving here, we saw so many animals around. It was the very dry season, so a lot of animals had crossed the river to this site.

Really wanted to visit the Nsefe sector of South Luangwa NP. Called to check availability and some more information. After that decided not to stay there as it is not inside South Luangwa NP, Nsefe Sector as mentioned in other review, but it is a private game reserve with $40 park fees and $20pppn camping fee.
