Description

Beautiful campspots close the the entrance of La Gran Reserva. There are 2 offical camping areas that should have toilettes, we didn't check. Lots of wild camping options if you are not to high, otherwise stay in the official camping. we are 2,60m and had no problem. The road is a little bit bumpy dirt road. high clearance helps but is not necessary.
You can get free non portable water in the village before the preserve and there is a sign that says 100 pesos per vehicle. Not sure if this is for camping or to enter the preserve. Nobody wanted any money and we didn't got into the preserve cause of the signs that say private property.

There are black Bears in the area, lots of Jays and if you are lucky you can see the very endangered maroon fronted parrot, that lives in this pine juniper forest.

No Telcel connection.

Beautiful forested area, thought about leaving because it is very remote. But a local directed us to this spot to camp, and we stayed the night with no issues. Plan for at least 30 mins on a dirt road to get here, and just follow the signs for the La Gran Reserve.

amazing spot. quiet, beautiful, flat. great weather end of April, cold at night sunny during the day. clean, no mosquitos very few flies. some workers drive by morning and evening. super friendly wave hello. bumpy drive in but shouldn't be a problem low clearance 2WD. many other spots to park, some further from the dirt road, but I think this is the nicest one.

Incredibly peaceful spot. Worth the drive.
