Description

We are the owners of this place. The camping ground is part of an established cacoa farm.
Phone Number: +502 3100 40 97 or +491604743766 (Whatsapp)

We speak Spanisch, Q'echi, Englisch and German. (All fluent - but different people...)
If you are interested in staying at a place with no tourist. (Exept you in the future) and you want to learn a lot about Cocoa and other plants, you are at the right place.
Coming from Rio Dulce to Lanquin or vice versa, this i a very nice place to stay.
For whatever reason, the first visitors came from Germany. (Dino Adventure - See the picture below)
Alhan from Guatemala and Andreas from Germany have started a joint projekt to grow Cacoa and other plants. At the moment we have 8 Hectar under management and we are aiming to go for more. The Farm is build on an agroforest approach. We are very well integrated into the community and at the moment we support a dental project in this area as well.

Santa Maria de Cahabon is a small pueblo nearby. You will find a local market, very friendly people and a very typical environment.

We also offer trips to the farms we work with or into the natural park just beginning 2 Miles from our place.

The Place website is the german website for dokeshi. But give us a whatsapp call and you will find out more.

By the way, place is free of charge. Would be happy if you donate to our charity project.

A wonderful place. Here you can get a unique insight into Guatemalan life and cacao farming. The visits to the school were an absolute highlight. The people are super nice. It is worth going to the market with the tuc tuc. Just stay a few days and immerse yourself in life. Andreas and Alhan are planning many more projects and took a lot of time for us. You don't pay a fixed amount, but give a donation of your own choice for the projects. For us the time there was unforgettable!

I stayed 2 night in the beautiful house in construction with a beautiful view. Andreas welcome me as I was in my house, he took some time to chat with me around a coffee. He has a beautiful project of Cacao and social project with the local. No tourist, the perfect place to see the real Guatemala life. I would spend more time here if the road didn't call me.

Super nice experience in rural Guatemala! Had a good time with Andreas and Alan(local Partner) he showed us a lot about how Kakao is farmed and fermented as well as a nice insight in the living of a normal people. He's got big plans for a school to teach them about dental hygiene and care about the environment etc. Additionally he wants to build a School for mayan knowledge. Easy Route from Lanquin. Difficult Route to Rio Dulce, right now only possible with 4WD. Lovely Flat garden, fair town to shop arround! Thanks!!

We had a great few nights here with the kind and generous Andreas. He gave us a great tour of the farm, cocoa process, and the local school/dental project. The primitive experience was great and everything was as described. Note there are some low hanging wires on the road in, we managed to sneak through by pushing them up and out of the way, and the parking space is limited but enough for 2 vehicles and great for a stop over to learn something new!

We met Andreas on our way to lanquin and semuc champey. He invited us to his property in cahabon and gave us a Tour through his partners, Alhans Ranch and the places where they plant Kakao and other plants like vanilla. They also showed us everything about how and where they buy and prepare the Kakao for the European marked, all Fair-trade, even better than that and harvested exclusively from farms with mixed cutured Plantages. Just across the street of the place where you can camp is a little quetchi school, whish Is also a project from Andreas to teach the kids some nessecary things for life, like brushing teeth, environment protection and much more. We spent about two wonderful weeks there and had a great and relaxing time there without any other tourists except for us, what was very welcoming for us after semuc, Rio dulce and all the other touristy places. Even the village Santa Maria de cahabon is a very nice and authentic Guatemalan village with a little local marked, where you can buy veggies, meat and other things.
We took the small white street (AV-29) from Rio dulce to cahabon and lanquin, what is ruff but ok to drive for any higher clearance car or truck. We have a 6,6x2,3x3,5m l,w,h 4x4 truck like you can see on the pics and had no problems at all. Just needed to air down the tires a little for the bumpy road. Calculate 6hrs for that drive. If you don't make it in one day, there are some good spots to spend a night along the road with great views.

almost forgot to tell you, that there is a little creek where you can have a cooling bath or make your laundry 😁👍

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Andreas‘ cocoa plantation. We spent 4 nights here and there is much to do especially if you want to get involved with the local community. The local school welcomed myself and my three year old. We spent the afternoon joining in with their activities which included brushing teeth!!! Andreas has direct access to a beautiful stream where you can cool off in the heat- and of course he will teach you all about his chocolate. We had access to water and electricity, could use the washing up area, and bathroom - (shower is in the form of a large bucket). A fee is not expected but donations which support the local school are appreciated. Would definitely recommend.
