Description

Down Old Buckman Road on the way to Diablo Canyon Recreation area, there are a number of sizeable areas to camp with fire rings. This location is specifically a big triangle junction with loads of space, could fit multiple RVs, skoolies, etc. There are some cool dirt bike trails, hiking trials, and places to explore. Incredible views, and cell service. We stayed here for 4 nights, it was awesome!!

ps: clean up your trash. Area is already a bit trashy and I would hate to see it get worse.

pps: a shooting range is nearby, so don't be alarmed by gun shots.

Latest Check-Ins

I went to check out this area after camping in the Santa Fe National Forest spot as I was looking for a change of scenery, but I didn’t feel comfortable staying here. Lots of trash. I ended up returning to the national forest camping area which I very much recommend!

Very large flat area right past the BLM "rules" sign. beautiful views and a few fire pits. Lots of trash from shooting ranges and people shooting guns during the day. 20 minutes from Santa Fe downtown roughly.

This place is just okay. As other reviews said there is quite a bit of trash.

When we arrived there were quite a few people there with dirt bikes and 4x4s (this was a Tuesday, I’d imagine weekends are even busier). They cleared out by 7pm and then we shared the site with two other campers.

Felt safe, convenient from the highway, and some nice trails to walk around in the morning. Overall would recommend as a place to crash for the night but i wouldn’t stick around to enjoy the day here.

cool open area, we got up on one of the ridges and followed it for just a little ways to a nice turn around and flat campsite big enough for about 2 4runners w rooftents

wonderful place to camp with incredible views of the valley 20 of camping sites for two-wheel drive but some better spots for four-wheel drive or I should say different spots spent the night out here on the only one here very peaceful very beautiful very serene

I drove out here, and maybe I’m too picky, but I did not end up staying. There’s a parking area right off the road and then pretty close by seems to be a makeshift shooting range which has a lot of garbage, broken glass etc. Kinda weird vibes. I did not venture past that. 1 bar with Verizon but really slow/not all that useable.
